Sticks and Stones May Break My Bones...But Chains and Whips Excite Me...

I want this...

Corset Tshirt
I've always thought corsets and bustiers were very sexy, in a dominatrix kind of way. They make me think of whips and chains and thigh high patent leather stilettos. Being kinky and letting go of all inhibitions.....

Okay, okay I'm getting a little warm in here.
(I never knew a little corset tshirt would excite me so much)

Out of all my years, I've never worn one; a corset that is. I do own one though, I've just never worn it.  I purchased it from TJ Maxx last season so I can't wait to style it. Since there is still a little chill in the air I decided to first try a corset inspired Tshirt just to see how I would like the effect.

LOVES IT!!!

I paired it with my all time favorite red cardigan from Old Navy (it's at least 5 years old and it still hasn't lost it's flava) , some thrifted wide legs, and my bronze Steve Madden kitten heels. I actually went to have dinner with my BF's family in this 'fit and his fam totally loved it. I was worried though that the 'corset like' design would be too much but it worked.

My pants are not high waisted, but oh well, right!

I got inspiration for this outfit from this TwoBirds Inspiration Monday pick:
Inspiration Monday
How do you rock your high waisted/wide leg pants?

You can visit TwoBirds to see how everyone else interpreted this week's inspiration.

In other 'Word on the Street' news, the BF and I rented Stone starring Robert DeNiro, Edward Norton, and Mila Jovovich.

MY RATING-6/10

In Stone, a convicted arsonist looks to manipulate a parole officer into a plan to secure his parole by placing his beautiful wife in the lawman's path. Again, another film dealing with law and the justice system. I would have loved a little more action (and maybe even some type of twist) but if you're in the house with nothing to do on a rainy day then maybe you can go and pick it up. I wasn't too thrilled by it though.

What's your 'Word on the Street' this week?
Any favorites?

Love Without A Limit...

Tis the day to love and be loved.
I thought it was funny to find these as listed definitions for love:

3. sexual passion or desire.
6. a love affair; an intensely amorous incident; amour.
Because really?...when did sex and love affairs begin to define love?  And if such is the case I would've been in love eons ago! (LOL-no pun intended) I think love takes a little, no, a lot more time to develop than say after a one night stand or even after months or even years of dating someone. To love is to have a deep, unconditional passion or affection for another. The keyword here being unconditional. Having the ability to accept everything about someone-flaws and all-without judgement, criticism, or ridicule! Being sensitive to the needs of another, being secure, being patient, being kind, being a friend. That's my definition of love, what's yours?

Weekly Gratitude
Today, even though my camera is broken and my nerves are in shambles because my work phone has literally been ringing non stop since 11am, I am grateful for love from my family and friends...and of course from all of you who are interested enough to visit me and read my daily ramblings...I'm grateful. Grateful for these comments:

1."blue belt? perfect! perfect color, width, length, everything. love it all. -brittney http://adayinlifetoo.blogspot.com (fellow remixer)"

2. "this blazer fits you so well! you can see shape in the front and still see all your lower body shape too. lovely and curvy. "

Grateful for caramel cheesecake, short workweeks and long weekends, and grateful to have my best friend as my man! Here's my Vday swag:

The lighting is better on this one!!

And the red leather gloves to match...

I decided to be a lil crafty today and make these for my friends and coworkers...

That turned into this....

Beautiful Butterflies!
Thanks for reading friends. Have a great day of love and loving!

It's My Prerogative!!

Ahhh...(sighing a breath of relief) it's Friday. The day that most 9 to 5'ers live for!! The day that I can kick my feet up in the air and have a whole bottle of Moscato to myself because I can sleep in on Saturday. The day that I abandon all forms of paperwork and decide instead to watch movies all night because I can do what I want. The day that I can ignore the dress code and wear a skin tight miniskirt because I'm a grown a$$ woman. I can wear whatever color I want because I'm a woman who lives by my own rules. I'm going to wear red because it's my favorite and it represents my personality-feisty, bold, and hooootttt!!! It represents every woman. It represents matters of the heart. I wear my red proudly because I represent the cause to raise the awareness of heart disease, the number one killer of today's women. It is 'National Go Red for Women's Day' and Heart Disease Awareness Month.

Participate in Heart Disease Awareness Events

If you would like to participate in other events going on this month you may visit Andie here. This is such a great cause. Speaking of causes, specifically in reference to the content we choose for our blogs, I'm also going to join in on Katy's Friend Friday discussion over here. While some people try to take shots at blogging events, stating that they are full of bandwagoners (I'm quite sure I just made up a word?) and phonies trying to claim fame in the blogosphere, others of us, myself included, are actually genuine in our approach to participate in events, whether it be for a specific cause (ie-Heart Disease Awareness) or just because it's something that interests us. Hang tight people-this is gonna be interesting!

1. With all the blogging events out there how do you determine which ones to participate in and which ones to avoid? Well personally I've always been the type of person who likes to be involved in alot of things.  If it interests me and there is no time conflict, I will participate. Especially if it's for a cause such as Heart Disease Awareness.  It's not about fame or jumping on a bandwagon. I just like to be involved; it's no different from my desire to volunteer and give back to my community, my want to recycle, and my desire to show off my outfits!

2. Be honest, have you ever jumped on the bandwagon of some blogging movement/event for the wrong reasons? How did that turn out? I'm not a bandwagon type of chic. I do what makes me happy-my actions are never determined by what others tend to gravitate towards.

3. How do you give your own flair to a blog event while still maintaining the general mission and purpose? Just by doing me and being creative.  I try to take the themes of different events and somehow incorporate them into my life story or 'topic of the day' so in essence my posts turn out to be like journal entries rather than pointless rambling.  For instance, on Monday's I participate in Weekly Gratitude-the blog was created in order to serve as inspiration for bloggers to say out loud or in writing those things that have fulfilled us, changed us, touched us or simply made us happy that week. I add my own flair by highlighting 3 of my favorite comments that were left on my blog for the week.

4. When determining the best content for your blog what criterion do you keep in mind? Everyone loves to see how you put your personal spin on everyday style so I keep that in mind.  I also love to write so I try to combine those aspects to make for something that's fun and interesting to read.  I stay true to what I know and I think that's the key to being a successful blogger!

5. While everything will not suit your blog, how do you try and support your fellow bloggers who are participating in something worthwhile but not your style? Maybe make a comment or at least mention it in a daily post and include a link back to them.

FBFF is sooo much fun. I look forward to it every Friday and apparently others do to.  Join in on the fun by going here. And in support of 'National Go Red for Women Day', here is me in my RED.  These pieces all happen to be a part of my 30 for 30 as well. That took some great planning skills, if I must say so myself! Tee hee!!!

(I tried to cover the annoying looking light from the flash..bad job)
Okay so I've been waiting patiently for the blanks and here they are for this weeks Fill in the Blank Friday.

1. If I could only read one magazine publication for the rest of eternity, I would choose>>> Cosmopolitan-who doesn't love great sex and relationship tips. Their fashion editorials are pretty bomb too!

2. If I were to run my own magazine it would be>>> a fashion magazine for thrifters and how people style their thrifted finds. I've thought about this all too much-I'm gonna call it Thrifty. Seriously, this has been in my arsenal for years and this here blog is my documentation that I'm the curator of the idea!

3. I buy magazines (at the grocery check stand or via subscription) >>> if I had to choose these days, it would be via subscription because it saves more money. Nowadays, I just read them all while standing in the line at Walmart!

4. I prefer my magazines (in print or online) >>> definitely in print vs. online.  I like to tear out the images and hang them up on my walls!

5. The number of magazines I buy each month is >>> see blank 3!

6. My favorite magazine genre is (lifestyle, gossip, home, etc.) >>> I'm leaning more towards the lifestyle mags because they pretty much cover a tad bit of all of the above!

7. The magazines I read regularly are >>> Lucky, Cosmo, Teen Vouge (even though I'm not a teen, the fashion finds are more affordable), Essence, Life and Style, People Style Watch, Women's Health, Good Housekeeping

Everday is My Day...I Do it MY WAY...Everyday!!!

It's Monday...I'm cold and I'm dragging my feet!  I hope everyone had a beautimous weekend!  Mine was gorgeous aside from the fact that I didn't get to visit Bath and Body Works to use my coupon for a FREE traveling size lotion.  I had been planning all weekend to go and of course with work and studying, time got away from me.  It sucks because those type of do dads make for good stocking stuffers and impromptu gifts for special occasions.  I DID, however, get to use my FREE rental coupon at REDBOX. (Yes, I AM a coupon collector! My BF thinks that it's hilarious, but I say it's all about being 'thrifty'!) Might I add, that Redbox is the greatest invention since sliced bread!!  It's convienient and it's wildly inexpensive.  For 7 bucks, I can rent a different movie for each night.  The best part about it is that you can rent from one location and return at a totally different location if you happen to be running errands for the day.  I LOVES it and will continue to be a faithful Redboxer.  By the way, I rented Salt; I will be sure to tell you how it was on Wednesday when I host 'Word On The Street Wednesday', my new linky party where you can share movies you've watched, good books that you've read, cool new music that you've heard (or concerts you've attended), or even awesome artwork that you've seen.  I'm oh so excited about that!  Another thing I'm excited about is Everyday, Everywear, something new created by my bloggirlfriends Linda and Liz.  Each month they will choose a new clothing item and allow their friends out in the blogosphere to post pics detailing how they styled the selected items.  First on the list was Gingham and though it is extremely tough to photograph (because my camera sucks so it comes out looking like a big mass of squiggly lines), here's how I styled mine...

Red AGAIN!!!
Well my friends, I believe that's all...don't forget to come back on Wednesday for 'Word on the Street Wednesday' (please bear with me as I figure this linky thing out) to hear what I thought about the movie 'Salt'.

Thanks for reading!!

I Got 99 Problems....But a Blog Ain't ONE!!

TGIF!!! The ode to a wonderful weekend!  I've been searching different blogs and I found soooo much cool stuff to do with my blog-all of which include participating in massive community links such as Friend Friday, Fill in the Blank Friday, Five ? Friday, Top 2 Tuesday, Color Brigade, and one of my favorites, Awesome and Awkward Thursday, which was created by the ever so lovely Syd over at The Daybook.  I'm sooooo excited that I don't know where to begin.  Lemme just start with those things specifically set aside for Fridays!!!

FIRST UP....this week for Friend FridayModlyChic is discussing outfit planning-something that I am horrible at! This should be interesting.

1. How do you determine what you will wear that day? I actually try to think about my outfit choice on the night before, that way I'm not creating a pigsty in my room when I go to get ready for work.  This give me at least an extra 15 minutes.

2. Do you plan outfits out in advance for a whole week, month, weekend? I could never plan that far in advance, because what if I change my mind?- I'm famous for being indecisive.

3. Do you have any specific way of tracking outfits and items already worn so you don't repeat? I can usually remember what I wore for the last week but honestly as long as I don't wear the exact same pieces together over a weeks time period, I don't even care! There are sooo many ways to remix an outfit, that no one will ever know the difference!

4. How do you discover new combinations of items in your closet?  It really depends on how I feel.  Most times I just go through my closet and pick out my most favorite colors for the day and not matter what it is I roll with it.  I also have an inspiration scrapbook which includes pages magazine photos or articles that display things that I like.  And of course I get inspired from the loads of bloggers that I follow.

5. To streamline the process for 2011 what is one new thing you can do to cut down your dressing time? Continue to plan my outfits the day before and go one step further and iron them so my outfit is etched in stone-i hate ironing by the way!

NEXT UP is Five ? Friday, created by Jessie at My Little Life.  This will help all of my followers get to know me a little better.

1. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get tired of? SET IT OFF-it focuses on friendship, loyalty, and trust, and the whole plot is centered around a bank robbery.
2. What's your biggest pet peeve right now?Simple a$$ people that make awkward sounds when they eat!
3. If you had to describe your best friend in five words or less, what would you say?Hilarious, loyal, beautiful
4. If you did not have to worry about money or go to school what would you do for a living?Event Planning
5. What is your one "splurge" item, that you will always buy, no matter the cost?A vacation!

THIRD and LASTLY-This blog wouldn't be a blog without an outfit post...sooooo, I'm gonna play a little Color Brigade with Kileen.  Its a super cool outfit feature where all of the participants are challenged to create an outfit using just 3 colors.  Since I'm a color fanatic, I felt that it would only be right if I put my 2 cents in.

This picture is soooo cheesy!! I work with children so alot of my pics will be taken inside my classroom with random construction paper, projector screens, and glue bottles in the background.  Sorry but it is what it is!!  I love, love, love this cardigan-I got it at least 6 years ago from Old Navy for 97 cents when they used to have their killer clearance sales.  I wear it with absolutely EVERYTHING! Even though this fit looked great on me, it was a little to matchy for me-this must've been one of the random days that we were asked to wear red, white, and blue. OBVIOUSLY!!

Anywho! Thanks for reading!!
