Savin' Maven Monday: DIY Dope Hat

When I saw my blogger friend Mo wearing this hat on her Instagram feed I knew I had to have it.

I haven't seen any hats quite like this at any of the stores in my area so I decided that I would make my own. This had to be the easiest DIY that I have done to date. Here's what all I used:

*Skull cap
*Iron on adhesive letters
*Glue gun

I found this hat at my local Goodwill for $1.25! I love the red and charcoal stripes.

These letters were found at Walmart. They're supposed to be iron on letters but I decided to use my hot glue gun as well as the iron to ensure that they wouldn't peel off of the hat.

Once I figured out how I wanted the letters placed on the front of the hat....

I glued them down, went over them with an iron to secure them and viola....

My new 'Dope' girl fresh hat.

I can't wait to wear it!!! Thanks Mo for the inspiration!!!

What do you think???

I can't wait to hear from you!!

Friday Favorites: Vol # 31

Hello and Happy Friday my loves.

Just a quick post to share some of my favorite things with you all. Lately, I've been reading lots of blog posts and editorials stating how you shouldn't bombard your blog readers with the exact same things that you post on your Instagram feed. With that being said, I assure you that with the exception of a very few of the things that I post here during my Friday Favorites segments, my Instagram feed is a totally different animal.

For instance, this Levi's clutch didn't make it to Instagram but I got it for FREE with a Levis.com that was gifted to me through an app on my phone called Wrapp. Yay for freebies!!

Packing and shipping purchased items from my shop, Miss Rockwells Racks, is always the highlight of my week.

Target has a really bad habit of clearancing their entire shoe section at one time. It gets on my nerves because it tempts me to spend money that I would rather keep in my wallet; but because I love shoes so much I end up spending it anyway. Ughhh!

This month's FREE mag swag!!! Make sure to 'like' my FB page as I post about all of the great deals and freebies there.

As a member of Old Navy's Style Council, I was sent coupons for myself and a girlfriend to try a pair of their new white denim jeans-absolutely FREE. I'm super excited about this opportunity.

My growing accessory obsession. I feel totally naked without some type of jewelry on when I leave the house.

OMG. I'm not a huge fast food conossieur, however, this new Jim Bean Bourbon Thickburger from Hardees is so heavenly. Lately, I've been dying for a really good burger and this one takes the cake. If you're a fan of Hardee's you should definitely give this baby a try. They even sent out BOGO FREE coupons for this very burger. Yummm!

I had the opportunity to attend one of very few fashion shows in my area and I had quite the experience learning about my city and how much talent I have floating around me in terms of style and fashion. More pics will be posted on my Instagram feed.

I've been wanting to try some type of makeup primer for a while now and I was finally able to make that happen using a Victoria's Secret gift card that I was given by my friends over at Wrapp. After the gift card, I only spent $4 for this lovely primer.

Last but not least I'm totally excited to be participating in my very first Trunk Show hosted by my lovely friends over at Yours/Mine Secondhand Thrift. The event will be located in DC next weekend and I'm so happy to finally be living out my dreams of having my own boutique. Here's more info about the show if you would like to attend. There will be lots of secondhand and vintage goodies there for the taking.

What were some of your favorite things this week?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Pastels, Prints, and a Pencil Skirt...

Happy Hump Day my loves.

I hope each of you are having a great day thus far. I'm so glad that we're halfway through the work week. I've been bombarded with meetings and paperwork so I'm ready for a nice, long weekend.

I haven't posted since some time last week but I promise I'm going to do better. I did however, get the chance to attend a local fashion show this past weekend so I will be posting pics of that on my Instagram feed soon.

Today's outfit is one that I styled for Easter Sunday. I find it to be amazing when you can so pefectly pair up pieces in your closet that were initially purchased as seperates

I loved the print of this cardi when I initially saw it in Target.

And though I love, love, loved it I absolutely had to wait until it was clearanced.
Needless to say that I was able to snag it for 7 bucks. I get so excited about red stickers and markdowns. It totally tickles my fancy. I mean I liiivvveee for a good sale.

Or.....a great thrift find...like this classic Jones of New York pussybow blouse I found for 99 cents.

I wasn't too fond of the shirt by itself because it fit a little large on me but the great thing about layering is that you can kinda mask a particular garment's actual appearance if you don't like it's inital fit.

This magenta colored high waisted pencil skirt is absolutely one of my faves. I love the fact that it came with a skinny belt and the color is awesome. I purchased it a few years ago from one of my all time favorite stores, New York & Company-all of their pieces are so classic and can easily be worn as work or casual pieces.

This skirt really accentuates the little bit of curves that I do have...

Too bad that it fit a little to tight for my liking. Hence the reason I recently posted it for sale in my shop, Miss Rockwells Racks. So ladies if any of you want it, it's up for grabs!

Overall, I rather enjoyed this 'fit. I got tons of compliments on the pretty colors too. Not to mention, the honey snapped these photos of me and he didn't do such a bad job. I may have to hire him full time!!!!

What's your favorite color combination?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Thank You so much for reading!

My $20 Outfit...

Happy Wednesday my loves.
I hope each of you are having a wonderful day thus far. I'm so glad that we are halfway through the work week because I'm already exhausted. I'm really sick of this back and forth weather in my area in particular. One day it's so hot that I feel like we totally skipped Spring and then the next day it's so freezing cold that I need to break my space heater back out.
Okay...so maybe I exaggerated just a bit.
I can honestly appreciate the crisp days because I get to layer my clothing. Layering is one of my favorite concepts when it comes to styling. Blazers make layering especially fun.

I picked up this great Zara cord blazer while thrifting last year. Back then I wasn't exactly hip to the whole Zara brand but I loved the color and the fit of it. I just couldn't pass it up when I read the $2.99 price tag.

As you may or may not know, I don't wear skirts often. I'm a pants and shorts type of chic. I mean I love pretty skirts-I have a TON of them in my closet but for some reason they're not the first item I grab for when getting dressed.

I do love this little mini skirt though. I loved it so much I purchased it in blue too. It was only 3 bucks at one of Old Navy's end of season sales. I definitely wasn't leaving it on the rack.

I was dying to wear these thrifted boots and I felt like the brown accents in the outfit would compliment them so well. I'm totally in love with these boots. So much so that I purchased them in gray as well.

The flower detail drives me crazy!!!

My favorite part of this 'fit is this neck scarf thingy that I also scored from Old Navy during one of their Black Friday sales last year. I think this was the most expensive piece of my whole outfit, coming in at $8. I love the bright orange color and it's so soft and warm.

I'm actually wishing for more cool days this Spring so I can pair it with some jeans and a tee.

Scarf-Old Navy

This outfit will go in the file as one of my faves-not only because of the great pops of color that I adore so much but mainly because it cost me all of $22!!! I get so super duper excited when I can style chic outfits for cheap.

How much did your cheapest outfit cost you?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Trendy Tuesday: Flower Power

Hello and happy Tuesday my loves...

I hope everyone had a very great and relaxing weekend.

I didn't do anything too, too special.  I received some new things for my shop, Miss Rockwells Racks, I spent some time with my goddaughter, and had some much needed 'honey time'.

I was intending to do a Savin' Maven Monday post yesterday but life got the best of me so I'm here today with a new edition of Trendy Tuesday.

Florals have resurfaced on the trend scene this year and I'm feeling all sorts of happy about them.  They're so feminine and chic. Prabal Garung hit the nail on the head with the line that was released at Target earlier this year-it's all about pretty florals and lots of color.

Faux Fur in 80 Degree Weather???

Hello my loves.

I hope every ones day is off to a great start!

I honestly woke up a bit confused as I attempted to figure out how in the world we totally skipped over the Spring season and jumped directly into Summer.

The temperatures in my area have been well above 80 degrees all week and I'm really feeling some type of way about it!!

Fall and Spring happen to be two of my favorite season because of the comfortable temps. Being that these seasons are not too hot but also not too cold, you can get away with wearing faux furs and long sleeved button ups like so...

However, when Spring temperatures start out being 40+ degrees warmer than average for this time of year, you begin to question recent purchases and furthermore your whole OOTD selection in general.

I've been dying for a faux fur vest for the longest so when I saw this one for $12 I knew I had to have it. I think the best part about it is that it's not a full fur. It's more like a cardigan/vest with faux fur accents on the front.

See...

One of my blogger friend over at Vodka Infused Lemonade is hosting a link up today and she asked that we highlight our favorite Spring trend, and though this may not be springy at all, I'm totally in love with faux furs for the season.

I've never been one to follow the rules of fashion so in an effort to maximizing the items in my wardrobe I'm totally looking forward to rocking this vest with some cutoffs and booties.

Since I'm a borderline anemic who constantly stays cold I don't really have much of an issue with wearing items as such during warmer weather.

All I need to do is swatch my top to a nice embellished tank and I will have a totally different look.

I'm interested to know what trend you're looking forward to rocking this season.

I can't wait to hear from you!

Thank You so much for reading.
XOXOXOXOXO
