Friday Favorites...Vol #5

Hello loves!

All I can say is TGIF because tomorrow I get to see Kevin Hart with my girls. Talk about excited. My week hasn't been too thrilling but I do have just a couple of things that made me smile.

My shoe obsession

It's really out of hand you guys. I have 50 pairs pictured below and that doesn't even put a dent in the actual amount. I just can't help myself. Especially when I get the $10 coupons in the mail for Kohl's-I head directly to the shoe department (the clearance rack to be exact). I have gotten 3 pair of shoes totally FREE of charge using those babies. So to justify my 'bad' habit, I will say that 95% of my shoes were purchased on clearance.

How many pairs of shoes are in your closet?

Closet shelving. Makes me swoon!

My other obsession-clipping coupons! I even have them coming to me in the mail. #sheerridiculousness

Coupon clipping Wednesdays....

More Valentine's Day cards c/o CardStore and TinyPrints

Anthropologie catalogs...can I afford anything out of them? Hell to the no! Nevertheless, they're still nice to look at for inspiration.

What made you smile this week?
Do share!

WOTS: Obnoxiously Frugal...

Hello my loves.

It is hella early in the morning but I went to bed earlier than usual so now I'm wide-eyed, looking real simple! Then....I realized that I hadn't done my Wednesday post so I figured what the hell!?

I was browsing through my reading list trying to find some inspiration and I stumbled across this post over at Cheapalicious.  She always lists some really FAB deals and here lately she began a
$50/month shopping budget challenge. I immediately had to commend her because trying to stick with spending only $50 in one whole month is like speaking a foreign language to me. The best I can do is make sure that everything I buy is either thrifted, on clearance, or purchased with coupons (on double coupon days of course).

Like this 'fit:

I'm sure it was well under $50 for the total package. Does that count for anything?

Cardi-Plato's (F21)/Jeans-Ross
I've never been the type of chick to spend lots of money on clothing-or anything else for that matter. Name brands and labels don't impress me. They don't make me feel any type of way. As a matter of fact, if I ever spent $500 on a bag or a pair of shoes I would slap the ish out of myself, immediately return the worthless item to the store and demand a refund. View my post here about my thoughts on labels.

Honestly speaking, $100 on a pair of shoes is a bit obnoxious to me. I.JUST.CAN'T. And guess what, I still know how to be fly with my $7.00 boots on!!

My challenge for today is to actually go through my receipts (because yes, I DO keep all of them) and see how close I come to spending $50/month. Thanks for the motivation NikiCheapskate.

I'm soooooo curious...what's your monthly shopping budget?

SIDENOTE: Just in time for Valentine's Day, my Word On the Street this week is an offer for a FREE Kindle book-40 Unforgettable Dates with your Mate. Savin' Maven Monday: How's Your Shelf Life?

Hello my loves.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. Mine was pretty exciting. I kicked it off with 2 great dates with my 'special someone' and the remainder of the weekend was spent moving into my new abode.

For sometime now, my closet has looked absolutely ridiculous-no organization, no rhyme or reason, and utterly embarrassing. Since I knew I would be relocating, I figured it would be pointless to begin the reorganization process and then have to pack it all up and start over; so I waited.

Which brings me to this DIY.

My first order of 'closet business' was to make it a little jazzy by placing some type of covering on these otherwise boring shelves.

There are a total of 8 shelves so I scurried on over to the DollarTree to see what type of paper they had. I picked up 5 rolls of this pretty floral paper.

Although neutral in color, it has just enough pizazz!

SIDENOTE: DollarTree is always my first round draft pick for simple DIY projects such as this one.

After hours of measuring and cutting, I was finally able to line all of the shelves!

And away my purses go.

Materials Needed:
-Contact Paper/Shelf Liner
-Scissors
-Box Cutter/Razor (for cutting any excess)

Total Time:
1hr 30mins

Total Expense:
$6

So tell me....how's YOUR shelf life?

WOTS: Amazing Blazin'

Hello Lovelies...

I was browsing back through my posts and I noticed that it's been quite a while since I had done an outfit post so here goes.

I wore this amazing tartan blazer to church a couple of weeks ago....and oh yeah, I wore the jeans as well!!

Bracelet-NY&Co/Turtleneck-Thrifted (GAP)

I love that my church literally allows you to 'come as you are' however some females take full advantage of that and go all the way overboard with it. I'm talking mini skirts and 'stripper' shoes. I feel like that's flat out disrespectful and it burns me up on the inside...but hey to each his own. Nobody cares about how I feel when they get dressed in the morning.  It is however, apparent to me that they obviously lack class and couth! LOL

Not that my goal is to be super sexy at church-I'm just saying-I think you can emit a certain amount of class and appeal without having to wear the highest of the high heels or the tightest, most revealing of the 'fits in your wardrobe.

I personally like these shoes...

Pumps-Thrifted

and yes...that is a cuff because my pants are entirely too long. I usually like for my pants to casually fall over my heel, but these flared NY & Co slacks fell waaaay over my whole shoe and made me appear as if I was walking around on stilts. So...I cuffed them!

Blazer-thrifted/Jeans-NY&Co/Necklace-F21

This little 'clatchel', because it's too small to be a handbag yet it has a strap so it can't be considered as a clutch, is quickly becoming one of my go-to pieces. Hey listen, if anyone from Old Navy's marketing team happens to be reading this could you please let me know the correct term to use for this cutie pah-tutie! Because I'm obviously clueless!!

'Clatchel'-Old Navy

And the sun was shining extremely too bright today. Hence the salute/attempt to shield the sun from my face gesture!

Ladies how do you feel about wearing jeans to church?

Before I depart here is my Word On The Street for today: RewardsGold is offering a FREE 1-yr  subscription to the Martha Stewart Living Magazine. These offers usually don't last long so head on over here to get yours. Because you guessed it, ya girl already ordered hers!

Savin' Maven Monday: Fill In the Blank

Good Morning Lovelies...

I hope your weekend has been great! I'm exhausted. My girls have had me out of the house everyday since Wednesday. Hopefully I can get some outfit pics posted soon.

This post is going to be short, sweet, and to the point.

Valentine's Day is quickly approaching us and I would like to know as females what do you get for your significant other (assuming that your 'other' is a male)? Flowers, candies, and teddy bears are a bit too girly so what kind of ideas do you all have for 'man gifts'?

A couple of days ago, I saw that TinyPrints, one of my favorite card companies, was running a promo for a FREE Valentine's Day card.  As I browsed through their selection, I saw this....

and thought that it would be perfect for either male or female. It's sexy, playful and blunt, without being overly sentimental and mushy.

Here's the inside....

How's that for a hot and steamy Valentine?

TinyPrints has quickly become one of my go-to companies for fun and stylish greeting cards. Check out my other FREE TinyPrint cards here.

What will you fill in the blank with?

Friday Favorites...Vol #4

I soooo debated on participating in ModlyChic's FBFF today because it's all about this season's trends and I quickly thought against it because I haven't been following the trends-AT ALL!!! I mean I've seriously been doing my own thing. And my 'thing' includes being thrifty and frugal rather than following anything or anybody for that matter. If my wardrobe happens to go along with this season's trends, so be it but I'm not going out of my way to make sure that I fit in because that's so not my goal. LOL!!

How do you feel about trends?

Anywho, here are a few of my favorite things from this week. Enjoy!

These...footed jammies! I love my Auntie for these! THEE best Christmas gift EVER!  I'm sooooo cold natured and when I put these things on I literally BAKE!

I celebrated my nephew's birthday with my family at Captain George's annnddd....a plate full of crab legs? Ummm, yes! I will take it!!

My mother's homemade oxtail soup!  Let me tell you-I have NEVER been shy at the dinner table!

Warm chocolate chip cookies and ice cold milk-my secret obsession!!!

I eat...a TON!!! But I also workout at least 3 times a week. Gotta get that cardio in!

Family time! I love these two! We were out at the bar watching the playoff games and were sadly disappointed when the 49'ers lost because of a field goal. UGGH!!!

Ecclectic statement jewelry.  Both Christmas presents from my favorite lady-Mommy! And they're red too which makes me love them even more!!

Last but not least-my newest obsession. THIS. LITTLE. GIRL. My bestie just had her on Monday (which was also my nephew's bday) and I'm madly in  love. #selfproclaimedauntie

What were some of your favorite things this week?

Savin' Maven Monday: I Love the 'Navy...

Happy Monday my loves!!

I hope each and every one of yous had an awesome-like weekend.

Mine was great! I love it when I hear about a super sale going on.

This weekend, one of my favorite stores, Old Navy, was having a major clearance sale.
I have always frequented Old Navy but here recently, I have fallen head over heels with their brand.
Their clothing is always durable and their sales are undeniably thee GREATEST that I've ever seen.  This weekend only they were offering and additional 50% off of their already low, clearance priced adult clothing.     For less than $50, I left the store with 3 pants, 3 blouses, 2 sweaters, 1 pair of pajama pants and a purse.  Here are just a few of my favorites from the weekend.

The ON in my area had a slue of these pajama pants left over from their Christmas line. I decided to go with a neutral color so that I could wear them year round.

Pajama Pants-$3.50

I absolutely love cardigans. This one will be perfect to layer with a cami in the spring.

Striped Cardigan-$4.25

I have had my eye on this purse since it first came out in the fall. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had quite a few of these left as well!

Satchel purse-$4.75

I've also had my eye on these cute shorts. I'm not sure exactly what the design is called but I think they are super HOT and sexy!

Party Shorts-$3.50

The best part of this shopping trip was the Super Cash that I received to use on my next visit. I already have my eye on the two pair of loafers that I'm going to purchase next weekend!

Did you run into any great sales over the weekend? Do share!
