Pocket Squares...

Yay!!! It's Thursday my loves.
For some of us that means time to go back to work and for others, you lucky souls, it means that you have an extra, super duper extended weekend!!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their time off on the 4th-eating lots of great cookout food and spending time with family and friends. I spent most of my day enjoying some uninterrupted quality time with my favorite dude so that was definitely the highlight of my day off. Since we've both been working extra hours at our jobs we kinda just lounged around. I didn't even get to capitalize on the chance to wear any of my 'Independence Day' inspired clothing items but oh well. This outfit post will have to suffice.

If you all have been following then you are well aware of my reluctance to wear any type of skirt. I prefer short ones, if any, but definitely not midis. I'm not sure what it is about them. Because my body structure is so boxy-no hips, no definitive waistline-I just don't think that they are too flattering on me. However, I decided to give this one a try for no other reasons than these:

#1... It has pockets. I die when I find pocketed skirts and dresses.

Midi Skirt-Thrifted

#2... It's my absolute favorite shade of red

#3...I was able to pair these great accessories with it. Sidenote: I couldn't decide on which watch to wear, so I ended up wearing them both.

#4...These $8 platform wedges gave the look just the rustic, vintage feel I was going for.

#5...The squares of this shirt paired with this gold/silver mixed necklace made me ever so happy.

Necklace/Shirt-NY&Co

#6...This $.99 thrifted belt sealed the deal. It's such a statement piece!

Even with the pairing of some great accessories, I'm still on the fence about my feelings towards midi skirts.

How do you feel about midi skirts in general?
And what do you think of mine?

Trendy Tuesday: American Girl

Hey loves!

It's Tuesday. One day before yet another day off! How do you guys plan on spending your holiday? I can't wait for a cold glass of wine and a fresh grilled burger. I plan to relax in the shade, view some fireworks, and hopefully get to wear some, one, or maybe even ALL of these clothing items. At the same damn time!

Pretty In Pink...

Well hello Wednesday!

How are all of my loves doing today? I hope your week has been pleasantly productive thus far. Mine has been exceptional. I've met a bunch of new blogger friends and even received a few collaboration offers for my blog. I'm too thrilled.

On the down side of things, today marks the end of my 10 day vacation period. It's back to work for me tomorrow. Uggh, the agony!!

Anyhow, here's my outfit post of the week. I wore this getup a few weeks ago on a date with 'the dude' to see a Mike Epps comedy stand up.

I knew that there was a possibility that it would be cold in the venue so I began with this thrifted Ann Taylor blazer ($.99) and worked around it.

First off, let me explain how pink was sooooo not one of my choice colors-until recently. I'm not exactly sure what it is about pink, fuschia, or any other combination of the hue but I'm definitely in love.

I think my favorite part of this 'fit by far is this portion...

Heels-Steve Madden (via Ebay)
The shoes totally had me at hello. I originally saw these Steve Madden beauties in Ross maybe about 2 years ago. The only set back was that they didn't have my size. Also, the pair that I saw in Ross were slingbacks. I absolutely had to have these shoes so what did I do? I went to the old ye faithful EBay. I found them and I immediately bid on them. I believe I ended up paying $25 for them. Not bad for brand new Steve Maddens.

My next favorite part about this 'fit is the accessories...

Watch-NY & Co./Ring-Forever XXI
This killer statement necklace that I scored from Plato's for $5....

And these blue geek glasses that cost me 2 bucks from the Icing...

I just loooovvveee how accessories and small additions such as a patterned shoe, a statement necklace, and colored glasses can make an otherwise plain outfit look so festive, pretty, and PINK!

Pink Capris/Chambray-NY & Co.
Blazer-Thrifted (Ann Taylor)

Trendy Tuesday: Peplum LePew

Well hello and happy Tuesday!!

I get sooo excited when Tuesday rolls around because I get to share with you all my favorite trends of the week. I hope you all have been enjoying this feature because I sure as heck have had a ball creating the inspiration boards (<---well, most of them anyway; some of the boards located on this link are those that I have pinned from others).

I also get excited when others like the trends that I present. This board was featured on last weeks Links A La Mode roundup. How cool is that?

Anyhow, my favorite trend of the week is....

Peplum LePew...

Can you say SWOON-WORTHY!!! I don't care what form it's in-skirt, shirt, or dress-there's something so dainty and inevitably classy about peplum. It's chic and it has the ability to make one look and feel like upwards of a million bucks. Ahhhh....for the love of peplum! I can't find enough great things to say about it. Thus far, I think I've purchased 3 peplum pieces (to be styled in a later post) and I can't get enough of them. Sometimes I just go into my closet and stare. The thing that I love most about this trend is that...

there is NO wrong way to style it!!

What do you think?
Does peplum speak to you like it speaks to me?

Savin' Maven Monday: DIY Studded Denim

Happy Monday my loves.

Let me first begin the top of the week by expressing my great thanks and appreciation for my newest followers-you all are giving me life!!

I hope everyone's weekend was productive and relaxing. It's been hot as all h*ll in my area so relaxation took up a major portion of my weekend. Seriously, what do you do when it's upwards of 90 degrees outside?

You grab a cold glass of wine and get to crafting.

Well at least that's what I did anyway.

I was finally able to find some time to complete the studded pocket on my dip dyed denim shirt that I shared with you here

Here's what you will need:

*old garments-ones that you don't mind experimenting on, of course
*studs-I wasn't able to find any in Micheals, so I ordered mine from eBay
*pliers (not pictured)
*hammer (optional)

Thrifted-$.99

That's it, you're ready to begin.

STEP 1: Position the studs on your desired area in the exact pattern that you want them to be in. I did this so I would know approximately how many studs to use.

STEP 2: Begin to adhere the studs into place. The bracket-like, clasp-like, attachment thingies that are on the back of the studs were actually sharp enough for me to push the studs through the fabric with my hands.

STEP 3: Use the pliers to push down the brackets on the back of the studs so as to secure the studs in place. If you would like, you may also use a hammer and lightly tap the underside of the fabric to make sure the studs are tightly secured to the fabric.

That's it! In 3 easy steps, and for less than $10, I have a totally new shirt. One that no one else will have.

I feel like I don't have enough studs on it though, like it's somewhat plain.
I still have a shit ton of studs left so I'm ripping my house apart in search of more things to stud.

Like these...

What do you think?
Have you studded any of the pieces in your closet yet?

Thanks for reading.
