Friday Favorites...Vol #11

Hello loves...this is the first time in a while that I feel like the week has passed by entirely too fast!

Of course that's only because I have been off for a whole week... so why wouldn't the days fly by!?

Anyhow, here is my week in pictures...

ENJOY!

1. Strawberry Margarita Gelati from Rita's...YUM! 2. Bacon Cheeseburger with all the toppings from Five Guys...Double YUM!! 3. I finally finished A Cold Piece of Work-it's only been 3 weeks since I checked it out from the library. That's horrible for me! I can usually read a book in about a week-tops! 4. Dollar Tree Beauty Products-I had to do it! 5. It's Tax Time-I finally finished mine this morning! 6. A Banana Pudding Cupcake from Divine Creations-triple YUM!!! 7. A cool chalkboard I saw while in DC. The question at the top asked "If you could be anything, what would you be?" 8. Someones answer was 'A Virginia Resident'. I thought that was hella fancy seeing as how I'm a Virginian. 9. Various sightings while in DC-my favorite was the First Lady's exhibit; she's such a diva! 10. Finally, my new blog banner-I love it! What do you think?

What were some of your favorite things this week?

3 Ways to Rock Chambray...

Let's face it...I LOVE CHAMBRAY! I would wear it every, single day of my life if I knew that people wouldn't look at me funny. Then again, who cares!

Upon noticing that I wear it so often, I decided to do something different, something I haven't done in a while...compose a list!

Here are 3 of my favorite ways to rock my chambray.

1. Monochromatic Casual

I've always been afraid of denim on denim-well in this case, denim on chambray, but I went out on a limb and tried it. There's nothing too spectacular about this outfit-it's actually kinda plain and boring if you ask me. To keep the 'fit from being totally monotonous, I added my trusted grey cardi and a pop of red. The red heels are actually as plain as can be, however, to jazz them up, I added clip-on bows that I found on clearance for $1.48 at Target.

2. Eclectic Funk

This 'fit feels more like me. It's bold, it's daring, and kinda makes you wanna stop and ask 'what the hell' I have on. Yeah, those are the looks that I like to go for. Despite the pictures, I had thee most trouble getting this 'fit to cooperate with me. The shirt kept coming untucked and it really just got on my nerve. Needless to say, I won't be combining these pieces again, though the green and chambray do work well together.

3. Sporty Edge

This had to be the most comfortable 'fit out of the 3. I would definitely wear this again-it's versatile and I thought it was pretty sexy in an 'around the way girl' type of way. Great for showcasing your style without having to get all glammed up. Also great for walking the crazy streets of DC or any other city for that matter.

Which look is your favorite?
AND.....
How do you rock your chambray?

XOXOXO

My Dressy Ways...

Hello my loves. How are you all today?

I'm finally off of work for Spring Break so I figured this would be the perfect time to catch up on some things around the house! Yay...I finally get to mark some things off of my TO DO LIST! I will most definitely begin by cleaning my house because it looks like a tornado hit it and I'm not even exaggerating.

Anywho, who went to church on Easter Sunday?

*raises hand* I DID!!!

And this is what I wore.

I absolutely refused to go out at the last minute to find an Easter dress so I just shopped my closet. I'm not sure if this color would be considered 'pastel' but I love the classic look. I added big pearls and cinched a grey belt at the waist to bring out the colors a little more.

It still amazes me how some women are perfectly fine about attending church with club attire on. It gets under my skin actually. It's disrespectful and shows a lack of class. It's bad enough that most of them haven't come to church all year-but then to come looking like a $2 hoar...tsk, tsk...I just shake my head in disgust!

Dress-Thrifted

This dress has become one of my faves <---I think I say that about all of my clothes! But seriously, I love the color, the fit, and especially the fact that it was thrifted for 99 cents. Oh how I wish I could be a personal shopper for someone. I would make them soooo very happy.

These grey paisleys from Target put the finishing touches on the 'fit. I had originally thought to wear white shoes but once I searched my closet high and low and couldn't find any, I settled for these. I was not expecting them to match at all, but they actually made the 'fit complete. What do you think?

She Hates My Pants...

Happy Monday loves...

I hope you all had a great weekend.

I spent my Saturday completing my monthly shopping trips and on Sunday I went to the grand opening of a swanky soulfood restaurant with one of my girlfriends. I found some really great shopping deals at Plato's and NY & Co. that I can't wait to share with you guys.

Here's my yummy plate of deliciousness-smothered pork chops with homemade mac & cheese and candied yams. I so wish that I had more pictures to share with you guys.

Here's the fit I chose.

My mom hated my pants. She said that they made me look like I was suffering from a case of 'nassatall'. In other words the pants didn't do any justice for my a$$-AT ALL!

I told her that they were harem pants so they were supposed to fit a little baggy around the booty area. She then proceeded to look at me as if I were crazy! At that point I gave up on trying to explain to her because she just didn't seem to get it.

And I didn't realize until after the photos that I still had on my Palm Sunday leaves from church. *gasp*

These are two of my favorite pieces but all in all, this was one of those 'fits that totally looked better in my head. It just wouldn't cooperate with me no matter what I did.

Do you all ever experience that? Do you get rid of the pieces or try to pair them with other things in your closet?

Thanks a million times for reading!

Friday Favorites...Vol #10

TGIF!!!

Let me say it again because I'm not sure you all understand what a week it's been for me. Between term papers and exams, I'm about ready to pull all of my hair out!!

So...TGIF!!!

Between school and work I feel like there's not much time left for me to do simple things around my house-like laundry and dishes. Not to mention catching up on my ever growing collection of magazines or finishing the library book that I have now renewed a total of 4 times because I have yet to finish it.

Anyhow, here's my week in review...

1. My clearance doormat from Target-I love that it's so different. 2. My finished DIY wine rack-view the before picture on Friday Favorites...Vol #9. 3. Rebate for 2 FREE Redbox rentals-I love FREE! 4. My name in a 2nd grade Math workbook-my name is far from typical so I don't see it often. 5. My makeshift to-do list-there are way too many items to check off! 6. Term paper #1-a 1500 word book review was definitely not as easy as I thought it would be. 7. Homemade Bacon, Egg, and Cheese-YUM! 8. Saturday's threads-neutral-esque!!

What were some of your favorite things this week?
