How To Wear: High Waists

Happy Tuesday my loves....

I hope everyone is off to a great start this morning. I'm running a bit late but hey, better late than never, right!?

Today I wanted to discuss a recent trend that I experimented with a couple of weeks ago-high waists. If you aren't a regular visitor, then you probably aren't aware that I'm expecting a baby boy in December. Therefore, when it comes to style these days, I'm drawn towards anything that's comfy and functional for my expanding midsection.

High waistlines afford me the opportunity to completely cover my bump without looking like Steve Urkel. I believe that this style was made especially for expecting women such as myself. I'm not too sure that I would wear this trend if it weren't for my bump.

What about you...how do you feel about the high waist trend?

How To Wear: Boyfriend Jeans

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday my loves...

I hope you all are off to a great start to a productive day.

Today I want to present to you Part III of my 'How To Wear Jeans' series. If you missed Parts I and II you may view them here and here.

Boyfriend jeans very quickly became one of my favorite styles of denim when they hit the scene. They're comfy and relaxed-not too tight and just baggy enough-still giving off a great amount of sex appeal

I love to wear mine with patterned heels, however, they also look pretty jazzy with nice oxfords if you want to go full throttle into the androgynous look, especially when you cuff the hems and roll them way above the anklebone.

I would strongly suggest staying away from ballet flats, sneakers, and/or kitten heels as they tend to make one appear boxy in shape, and above all, it just looks boring.

Now it's your turn to sound off.

How do you like to style your boyfriend denim?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Until then, thanks for reading.

How to Wear: Skinny Leg Jeans

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday my loves! I hope every one's day is off to a great start.

I am returning with Part 2 of my How To Wear Jeans Series. If you're interested, you may catch up on Part 1 here.

To be honest, when Skinny Leg jeans first hit the scene a number of years ago, I was not at all a huge fan! However, as time and styles changed, I will admit that I quickly jumped on the bandwagon and now they by far are one of my most coveted styles of denim

I love the fact that they elongate my legs and they add just the right amount of sexy to any given outfit. Though they can be worn with just about anything, there are a few things that I would absolutely stay away from.

Chunky boots and clunky heels for instance, are a huge no-no. They tend to make your feet look super huge and for those of us that do have rather large peds, that's one of the main things that we try to avoid when styling our outfits. Speaking from experience, cowboy boots look absolutely ridiculous with skinny leg denim. Please don't try that one at home.

Instead opt for a knee high style boot, riding boot, or a stunningly eye catching pair of pumps. These options are sure to bring out the best that a skinny leg jean has to offer.

Now it's your turn to chime in.

How do you rock your skinny legs?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.

How To Wear: Straight Leg Jeans

OMG....gals and pals!!!!

How the hell are you all? I hope each of you are doing well, being productive, and enjoying the beginning of your summer but mostly I hope that you haven't counted me out of the blogging world!!

I've missed blogging so much, however, I desperately needed a break-mentally, emotionally, physically, etc. I've had one helluva year at work, the honey has been plucking every nerve that I have left in my body, and my shop has been booming. There's just been so much going on in my personal life, that I've totally neglected my blogging life and for that I'm truly apologetic. One thing that has remained the same though is that I've still been taking photos, styling outfits, and reading up on fashion related news.

One thing you may not know about me as a blogger, is that I love, love, looovvveee how to series. I don't post them much here on my own blog but I think they are intriguing, interesting, and fun. Because I covet them so much, I figured that it would only be right to return with some how to-style tips.

I've heard so many women struggle with finding that perfect pair of jeans. Speaking for myself, it takes me forever to find the perfect pair-with only a few brands being able to bring out the best of my athletic build. Then when you find those jeans, what exactly should you do with them?

Which brings me to this....

How To Wear Jeans: Straight Leg
I began my series with this particular style of jean because I seem to have the most trouble styling these. They don't look particularly well when not cuffed and they only seem to be flattering with a certain type of shoe. I honestly don't like this style, however, I will purchase them for the right price!

I've found that the key to successfully wearing straight leg jeans is to make sure that they are cropped and/or cuffed above-strong emphasis on above the anklebone with colorful pumps or casual flats. Don't, I repeat, don't pair them with boots or sandals that cover the ankle. The key here is to show the ankle so as to create some sort of shape as this style of jeans is essentially formless.

I would love to hear about your experience(s) with straight leg denim. Please share any tips that you've found useful or helpful.

I can't wait to hear from you.
Thanks so much for sticking in here with me; you're much appreciated!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of the 'How to Wear Jeans' Series coming next week!

WOTS: I Like Those Stylish Clothes You Wear (feature)...

-John Fairchild

When I think of style, I think of someone who's obviously fashionable. One who isn't afraid to take risks, experiment with color, and ultimately one who can put one helluva spin on the latest (or maybe even the 'not so latest') trends in order to make them their own. I think of one who does the unexpected yet remains classic and timeless in their effort to do so. I think of someone who's FLY. Someone who always owns the room, no matter what they wear.

Today, I'm thinking of KayCee.

Everyone say hello to her.

Tell us a little more about yourself and your mission as a blogger?
Hello I am Kaycee of TwoStylishKays. My career is corporate training, but my passion is fashion.  So when I take off my trainer hat, I delve into the world of fashion as a personal stylist. I love helping women feel confident about their image and personal style. My personal style blog celebrates my love of fashion, thrift shopping and inspiring women to look stylish all the time. I believe that personal style is a look that is all your own. It’s not about how much money you spend, but how you wear your clothes.

What inspired you to begin thrifting?
It was my mother who nurtured my "thrifty shopping habit". Being a single parent, she worked two jobs just to make ends meet and thrifting was one way she could stretch a dollar. So she introduced me to secondhand stores at an early age. Since there was a social stigma attached to thrifting, I would only run in to buy black pants to wear to my job as a cashier at Popeye's.  But those quick trips turned in weekly visits as I realized the joy of thrifting and learned how to create fashionable wardrobes on a modest budget. Today, thrift shopping has a new meaning in my life:  It’s therapeutic! It’s the thrill of the hunt! It’s doing a good deed!! Oh and I save a lot of money too!!

How often do you thrift and do you set a budget for yourself?
I go thrifting at least once a week. My budget is not the driving force behind my purchases. I go shopping with a list, so I only but things that I truly want. When I make a purchase it’s an item that I need, can wear immediately and will love for years to come.

Your style is very classic and clean. Do you shop for particular labels/brands when thrifting?
I heart brands like Michael Kors, Zara, Club Monaco, Banana Republic because of their quality and timeless styles. I avoid fast label brands like H&M, F21, Old Navy and any Target brands because the quality usually isn't worth the thrift store price tag.  Plus, I can pay the same price for the item at an end of year or clearance sale. If I don’t recognize a label/brand, I look at the quality based on the material, how the item is sewn and of course the fit. The best racks to shop first are the dress, skirt, blazer and blouse sections.

What are a few of your favorite and most valuable thrifted items?
I have too many to name. But one of my favorite thrifted pieces is a Bill Blass navy silk chiffon dress. I found at Goodwill. There was little hanger appeal, but I loved the color and fabric. So I tried it on and fell in love. When I began inspecting the dress, looking for flaws and such, I noticed the Bill Blass label!

What are some good pointers that you've learned while thrifting?
These are tips to follow to have a great thrifting experience:
1. Shop alone or with someone who enjoys thrifting. Thrifting is not for the faint of heart and requires a great deal of patience.
2. Know that a thrift store is not the mall.  Go in without expectations and don't give up if you do not find specifically what you are looking for.
3. Many stores do not have dressing rooms; therefore, wear leggings and a fitted top to try on clothes in the aisle.
4. Become a frequent shopper.  Associates may become familiar with your style and point you in the direction of great finds.
5. Remember the accessories.  Thrift stores are a great place to find silk scarves, vintage jewelry, and belts.

No Matter Where You Go, You Are Who You Are...

STYLE-a particular, distinctive, or characteristic mode or form of construction or execution in any art or work

You aren't born with style...you must create it! Created by those who dare to take a chance and drive on the road less traveled...by those who set trends instead of following them...by those who let their style express the part of their personality which can't be spoken upon with words.  To the stylish and the stylistic, once you have been deemed to have style, it will never leave you!

Fashions fade, style is eternal.”- Yves Saint Laurent

Just thought I would post a few of my OLD, OLD school photos so that I may document just how much my style has evolved.
