These Boots AGAIN...

So here I go with these boots AGAIN!!!!

I told you all that I was gonna wear them out.

Especially when purchasing investment pieces such as these boots it's important for me to get my money's worth and more out of them. It doesn't hurt that lately the temperatures in my area haven't reached 70 degrees.

I'm so ready to pull out my sandals and dresses but instead here is another one of my infamous layered looks.

By the way, please excuse the graininess of the photos. I'm obviously horrible at using a professional camera. The horribleness doubles when you get an inexpert mother-who's only used to using Polaroids-to snap OOTD pics.

Because then they look like this...

Nevertheless, I loved the outfit so I decided to share anyhow.

You get the gist-a cableknit sweater layered over chambray (which goes well with just about anything), cord shorts that were on SUPER DUPER clearance at Old Navy, cute little polka dot tights and....

Those boots....AGAIN!!!

What's your most famous repeat offender?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Savin' Maven Monday: 1 Boot, 7 Ways...

Hello and happy Monday my dears. I hope each of you had a very well rested yet productive weekend.

I've been on Spring Break for the last 9 days and I can NOT for the life of me get myself together today. I'm beginning to think that I need to figure out a way to make 'full time' money from my shop because punching the clock isn't it for me. My Spring Break really allowed me to hone in on my passion and what it is that truly makes me happy-fashion and saving money.

My Mother told me that when I'm doing that which I love without having or needing to be paid for it, the very thing that doesn't feel like work, then I know I've found my passion.

Now I have to begin to make it work for me.

Okay....whew....

Enough of the philosophical drama, lets get down to what you really came here for.

About a week or so ago, I introduced you all to a new series, called Budget Style Tips, that I would feature here on Monday's when I didn't have a DIY project.

So here's Tip #1...

1 Boot, 7 Ways

I'm such a fan of making the most out of my wardrobe and maximizing what I have.

These boots were a costly (in my opinion, because you all know that I'm frugal) investment for me so I promised myself that I would wear these babies until the soles fell OUT!!

I love that these Arturo Chiang riding boots are somewhat neutral in color, allowing me to mix and match them with lots of different colors, patterns, and silhouettes.

What I love even more is that if I had a vacation or roadtrip to go on, I could pack this here pair of boots and be set for a whole week. I was able to successfully style 7 different outfits using one lone pair of boots. These boots alone prevent the need for extra carry on bags containing useless garments of clothing-now that's what I call an investment piece.

Being that this style of boot is a classic piece and won't be going out of style anytime soon, I am even able to pair them with skirts, dresses, and cutoffs. Maybe I'll try that for my next Budget Style Tip assignment.

Until then, here are 3 of my favorite styled outfits using this riding boot.

What one 'remixable' item in your closet would you take with you on a 7 day vacation?

I can't wait to hear from you.

My Obsession with Pink Pants...

I've never really been a huge fan of the color pink.

That's pretty obvious in this post.

But when I saw these pink boot cut pants on the clearance rack at Target, I knew I was in love. I debated so long about whether or not I should purchase them. I mean I literally thought about these pants in my sleep. Has anyone else ever done that?

NO!!!

Okay so maybe it's just me-the crazy shopaholic lady who dreams about clothes all night long.

Pants-Target
I thought about a million and one ways to style the pants but the original markdown price of $12.48 was still a bit too much for me. When they finally got marked down to $6.88 I didn't really have another choice. So I paid up.

Call me cheap or whatever-I call it frugality at it's best. And I'm not ashamed of it either.

That's my way of life and I'm sticking to it.

Upon purchasing these pants I knew exactly how I would style them.

I cringe at matchy matchy looks so I knew that I wanted to do some contrasting colors here.

This thrifted JCrew plaid was perfect underneath my chocolate sweater.

The denim jacket was added for extra texture.

Denim Jacket-Gifted (Chaps)
Here lately I've noticed myself shying away from lots of heels. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally a heel fanatic but the extremely cold weather in my area has me seeking more comfortable ensembles. There's nothing worse than being cold with hurting feet. And lemme tell you-I HATES being cold. I'm that chick who goes to bed with footed pajamas, an electric blanket, and an oscillating space heater. My honey hates it!!

Needless to say, I wore this 'fit to church. I was able to feel comfortable and cute during worship without feeling like I was doing too much.

BTW, I hope you aren't fed up with my riding boots yet. They will make several more appearances here on the blog before the summer hits. I just can't get enough of them.

Which pieces of clothing do you find yourself obsessing over in the wee hours of the night?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Thanks for reading.

Pretty Lace and Green Baubles...

Lace is one of those types of materials that really tricky to style. It's either way too sexy for casual everyday wear and runs the risk of appearing sleazy if you know what I mean... OR it can run the risk of looking like grandma's favorite thrift store tablecloth.

And I'm not fond of either of those visuals.

As a matter of fact, lace wasn't even close to my radar until recently when I found some gorgeous lace dresses on the clearance rack at Target.

Then there was this....
Lace Shirt-gifted
I fell in love with this pretty lace shirt when my Mother gave it to me for Christmas. I immediately began thinking of ways to style it.

Being that it fit a little large on me I decided to layer it with one of my favorite thrifted blazers.

Blazer-Thrifted
Of course since we are in the middle of March and the weather is still a bit cold I layered the lace over a plaid button up.

Button Up-Thrifted
I love this time of year because I get to layer many pieces and get the maximum use out of my wardrobe.

Layering also allows me the option of not having to wear a heavy coat when shopping or hanging out with friends.

To keep up with the St. Patrick's Day festivities I threw on some green skinnies (last styled here). If you haven't noticed by now, I love playing with color. These androgynous colors went so well together. I'm definitely thinking of more ways to pair the two shades.

Skinnies-Thrifted
This look wouldn't have been complete without my super favorite riding boots. I wear them with everything. I'm sure I will wear them well into the Spring season so be prepared to be totally sick of them by Springs end.

What's that one piece of clothing in your closet that you just can't get enough of?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Friday Favorites: Vol #29

Hello and Happy Friday to you my loves. It's been such a while since I've done Friday Favorites here on the blog. It started out as a weekly feature, however, I've indefinitely decided to do it on a monthly basis.

If you're a first time visitor here, Friday Favorites is just a round up of some of my favorite things that I've captured with my smartphone.

Here goes.

This pearl bow necklace is my all time favorite. I've worn it sooo much since purchasing it from Wet Seal a couple of years ago. I love when they have their B1G1 for a penny accessory sales.

Currently swooning over these Target dresses in addition to the remainder of their Spring collection. It's to die for!!

This amazing skeleton sweatshirt I found at Walmart for $1. Great pieces can obviously be purchased anywhere. And even though the skeleton has a Christmas hat on, I will definitely be styling this sucker during the upcoming cool Spring nights.

OMG. I'm not sure if you all are following my FB page but I posted about this deal there. On President's Day, Value City Furniture was giving away FREE $25 gift cards!! How sweet is that!? If you're not following me, please go NOW so you can stay updated on all great deals and FREEBIES.

I got this book from the library to help me with my taxes. I got a similar book last year and completed my 2011 return all by myself. Why would I pay someone else to do it when I can do it along. Clearly the info has been placed in the book for a reason.

Goodies from Goodwill.

Giving myself an at home pedi to cut the cost of having to go to the nail shop.

Weekend DIY projects. View my latest denim patch TShirt in this post.

This month's mag swag. All of these mags were absolutely FREE. Again, follow my FB page (link located in the right sidebar) for updates on the great deals.

Spending a whole weekend celebrating my girlfriends bday. I love me some her.

These Arturo Chiang riding boots that I keep obsessing over.

Date nights with my honey are always a plus. We saw the movie Snitch with The Rock and as fine as he was (The Rock) we only gave it a 7.5/10 rating tough.

Details from my 'Just Me and Proenza' outfit post. I'm such a sucker for good deets.

Last but not least, some of the items that have sold from my online boutique, Miss Rockwells Racks. Please go over and visit as I post new things each week. You may also get first dibs on the new items by following my Instagram page.

I love great selling weeks. The PO workers officially know my name now!!

What were some of your favorite things this week?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.

Equestrian Flair...

Okay...

So I'm totally in love with these equestrian style riding boots.

I think I may have said the exact same thing the first time I wore them on the blog.

They're so crazy comfy and I love their versatility.
Boots-Dillards (Arturo Chiang)
I love how they can be dressed down but also dressed up for a casual night on the town.

I wore this 'fit to a birthday engagement that I attended last month.

I wanted the effect of dressing up  however, I didn't want to stand around in heels all night so I built my OOTN around my go to boots.

Since I'm a huge sucker for great detailing, I died when I saw the belting on these boots.

In sticking with the whole 'equestrian' theme that I envisioned, I decided to pair the boots with some patterned skinnies,

Patterned Skinnies-NY&Co
my thrifted American Eagle Corduroy blazer,

Blazer-Thrifted (American Eagle)
and this thrifted button up that I purchased from Goodwill.

(I wish the lighting wasn't so bad; I really wanted you guys to see the gorgeous ruffles on the front of the shirt.)

All in all, this happened to be one of my favorite outfits of the month. I love how everything is so cohesive and follows along with the 'equestrian' theme.

So tell me, how do your favorite outfits become your favorites?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.
