Trendy Tuesday: Valentine's Day Gift Ideas For Him

Happy Tuesday my loves.

As you know Valentine's Day is soon approaching. That means lots of chocolate, sparkly baubles, and sexy smell goods. I'm going to stray away from creating a wish list this year as our gifts generally tend to stay the same year end and year out.

For ages, V-Day has generally been a female holiday; the one day out of the year when we get pampered to the fullest extent without the expectation of anything in return. The day when flattering gestures the norm and love truly becomes more than just a noun. At least for us ladies.

With that being said, I'm going to go out on a limb here and share with you some ways and ideas to make this Valentine's Day special for the man in your life as well. Granted, not alot of men are as sentimental as we can be, but I promise that your man won't mind knowing that he too is appreciated on this 'day of Valentine'!!

Here goes nothing...

Love Coupons-create your very own coupon book to include a Free home cooked meal, a hot oil massage, and/or a night of fully loaded intimacy. Feel free to get as creative and naughty as you would like.

Love Letters-prepare a hand written love note for him expressing your undying love for him. Earn extra 'brownie points' for reading it aloud to him.

Sexy Texts-send him sexy texts-all day long-describing the night you plan to have with him. Make sure that the texts are 'work proof' just in case he has nosey coworkers.

Special Delivery-instead of sending flowers and/or candy to his job, send him tickets to his favorite sporting event or music concert.

What kind of things are you thinking of doing for your special someone?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Thanks for reading.
XOXOXOXO

Also, don't forget to link up and share your Valentine's Day love stories, crafts, dating tips, etc. right here on the blog starting at 12:00AM EST on February 1 for the 'Lover's Lane' Blog Hop. And if you can't catch it then, don't fret, it will be open ALL MONTH LONG!

Savin' Maven Monday: DIY Valentine's Day Inspired Sneakers

Happy Monday my loves!

I hope everyone has had a fabulous weekend!

Mine was very productive. I got new items for my shop, began promoting the February 'Lover's Lane' Blog Hop that I will be hosting here (more info on the home page of the blog), and I got started on my Valentine's Day projects.

The first of which is a pair of V-Day inspired sneakers. I'm not sure how much I will actually wear these but I felt like it would be a fun and festive project to attempt so why not. The sneakers were only $3.50 from the clearance rack at Target so I figured even if I messed them up, I wouldn't be losing out on tons of money.

 Here's what you will need:

*plain white sneakers (hurry and get yours from Target-mine still had tons left)
*painters tape
*various shades of pink/red acrylic paint
*small foam brush

That's it! You're ready to begin.

Step 1: Use the painter's tape to section off the portions that you want painted. I chose to do a semi-chevron type design.

Step 2: Begin painting with your choice of acrylic paint. Allow 1-2 hours for paint to dry.

Although I have about 5 colors shown at the beginning of my post, I only used 3 colors (red, pink rose, and a coral shade)

Step 3: After the paint has dried, remove the painter's tape. Use a cottonball soaked in rubbing alcohol to remove any excess paint that may be on the sides and/or soles of the shoe.

Step 4: Put the shoelaces back into the shoes and viola, here you have a brand new pair of shoes for Valentine's Day.

As I stated before, I'm not exactly sure how often I will wear these but the thought was fun.

What types of crafts are you creating for Valentine's Day?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Thanks a bunch for reading.
XOXOXOXO

How To Wear White in the Winter...

So, I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like to follow rules. Fashion rules to be exact. I mean who comes up with this stuff?

Bright colors in the summer, pastels in the spring, dark tints and jewel tones in the fall....

And oh, my favorite one....

NO WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY!!!

Someone better send the fashion Gods to get me because I sure did wear and will continue to rock my white after labor day!

I wore this 'fit for date night with my honey. We went to a comedy club and I wanted to be sassy but not too dressy so I threw on these RockStar jeans that I purchased on clearance from Old Navy.

I absolutely loved how they fit. I mean seriously, when you have jeans that fit this well, why not break a few rules?

Does it count for anything that I paired the white with these black python paneled shoes so I wouldn't appear as 'summery'!?

Heels/Button Up-NY&Co.

Maybe the fact that the shoes were clearanced for $15 will help a bit!

Nope! Oh well, I tried!

This black faux leather vest has been one of my go to pieces this season. I love how it pulled my look together, adding edge. The extra layer didn't hurt either.

Vest-WalMart

The best part about it was that it was only 3 bucks from WalMart! I got it around the same time I purchased the camo skinnies that I wore in this post. I'm so ecstatic that leather is on trend right now!

And according to my style books-so is white!

All year 'round!

What fashion rules have you broken lately?
I can't wait to hear from you!
Thanks for reading.

Trendy Tuesday: Inaugural Style 2013

Happy Tuesday my loves!

I hope each of you had a great, looong weekend. Mine was very relaxing!

Usually for Trendy Tuesday, I highlight some of my favorite trends in fashion and style but I just could not let this day pass without acknowledging this wonderful trend that has been setting the world afire.

Yesterday's Inauguration Ceremony was one that will go down in history. I take so much pride in our First Family as they are one of great elegance, poise, and class. They exude strength and intelligence and they have a genuine concern for the well being of our country. I love their family structure, how much they adore their children, and each other. The way they look into each other's eyes just makes me swoon. They are a great example of love for all of America. And let's not mention our First Lady's style-I'll save that for another Trendy Tuesday post.

One of my favorite moments from the Inauguration was Beyonce's rendition of the National Anthem. Honay, when she snatched that earpiece from her ear I knew she was about to "provide life"!!!

What were some of your favorite moments from this years Inaugural Ceremony?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Thank You so much for reading.
XOXOXOXO

Friday Favorites: Vol #27

Hello my loves and Happy Friday!

I couldn't wait to share my faves with you this week as there as soooo many!!!

If you're not in the mood for heavy pictoral interpretations, then I suggest that you quickly exit out of this post because I'm liable to get on your nerves.

I took alot of these pics from my Instagram so be sure to follow me there for more exclusive updates.

The highlight of my favorites was traveling to DC with my honey for an NBA game...

FREE tickets!

The energy was incredible...

And the cheerleaders were even better!

I wore my fave faux leather leggings and combat boots. I really don't see how celebs can walk around at games in 5" heels-I can't! I guess that's why I'm not a celebrity, huh?

Our room was so beautiful...

And we drank this...please try this, it's thee best drink you will ever taste in your life. My honey and I named it 'Fruit Punch'!

Self-portraits!  I loved this outfit, especially these Coach sneakers, which hurt my feet like hell! Sadly so, I'm going to have to put them in the shop because I can't deal with them.

Before we headed back, we ate at Johnny Rockets. It was our first time there and we loved these little smileys!!

OK! OK! Enough about the trip.

I finally launched my official shop site, Miss Rockwells Racks, last weekend.

FREE Magazines...that I'm sooooo behind at reading.

Clipping coupons. There really aren't a lot of good ones out but I'm gonna make it work!

These riding boots that I found at Dillards during their huge New Years Day Clearance sale..I love them so much!

I'm such a Momma's girl! Yep, I love hanging out with my Mom-she's my best friend!!!

Really Target...you have GOT to stop doing this to me! I'm going INSANE!!

A couple of shopping trips that only cost me approximately 4 bucks...gotta love coupons!

I'm so sad that I didn't get to shoot pics in this outfit because this dress is magical!

Celebrating Michelle Obama's Bday. She is so fierce and classy. And her sense of style is out of this world!

Last but not least, being featured in this weeks' Link A La Mode roundup-it's truly an honor!

Looking Forward

Edited by: Emily of Sugar and Spice We’re already halfway through the first month of 2013 but that doesn’t mean bloggers aren’t still in reflective mode: creating resolutions for the coming year and looking to up-coming trends, whilst also looking back on the trends of 2012. There’s also a reflective element in many of the posts this week over blogging and how that might change over the coming year, not just on a personal level but more generally too. There’s also a good dose of travel inspired posts this week for those who are trying to beat the January blues and jet off somewhere sunny. And if you’re not jetting off somewhere away from the cold, make sure to check out the great how to layer below:
