I found them on one of my thrifting escapades. At first glance I thought that they looked strikingly similar to the prom shoes that were worn in the early 90's-you know the fabric ones that could be dyed to your color of preference.

I thought, 'these will definitely turn some heads and create some controversy' as people quietly ask themselves why the hell I have prom shoes on!!!

Because I'm a Prom Queen, baby!!

 I'm in love with stripes and button details so I was more than stoked when I found this beauty for 99 cents! I went to Goodwill today and found the exact same one in a wine color with the tags still on it...I didn't buy it but I did buy a shit ton of other stuff (to be shared in a later post)!

SIDENOTE: It's fairly simple (as are many of my 'fits) because my work environment isn't conducive to me walking around in 4" stilettos and poom poom skirts! Hopefully the summer will allow me a little more leniency with my wardrobe.

WOTS: Flowers and Posin'....

I know I've been rather MIA for a while and I truly do apologize-between moving and starting summer classes I haven't exactly had a bunch of time to dedicate to posting...but I'm baaaacccckkkk!!!

Flower Detailed Cardigan

First off, I loves me some cardigans. If I don't wear them (or some type of sweater, jacket, shawl covering, etc.) I feel utterly incomplete. Thus I have become completely obsessed with them.

There really is no right or wrong way to rock a cardi but I can admit that I was a little torn when it came to styling this NY & Co jewel. The flower detailing, regardless it's quiet color, is bold enough to speak for itself (I have it in army green as well). So as to not overpower the flowers, I added a solid, bold colored shirt. I figured patterns would have clashed too much and a light colored shirt just wouldn't have done the cardi justice.

The cream and brown statement necklace tied into the overall theme of the 'fit so I figured 'what the hell'!? When paired with brown slim flared NY & Co khakis and a pair of bronze Steve Madden kitten heels (my 'go to' shoe) I ended up with this:

In other 'Word on the Street Wednesday' news, my movie pick for the past week was Black Swan starring Nicole Kidman. I must admit that I was shamefully confused during alot of this movie. Maybe if I were to read the movie description and watch it over again I would better understand and appreciate the storyline.

A ballet dancer wins the lead in "Swan Lake" and is perfect for the role of the delicate White Swan - Princess Odette - but slowly loses her mind as she becomes more and more like Odile, the Black Swan.

I had heard such great raves about it so I wanted to see for myself and I personally wouldn't give it a 10. I will, however, say that 'ole Natalie did a bangup job playing the part and I can definitely understand why she was awarded the infamous gold man....no wait...is it a man or is it a lady? It's name is Oscar, it has to be a man, right?  Whomever IT is, it was very well deserved.

I'm Feeling Like A Million Bucks....

Today marks a new installment of Everybody Everywear! For those of you who are unsure of what that is, it's a clothing collective where each month the curators, Liz and Linda, pick a classic piece of clothing for the participants to style. I love to see everyone's different styles and takes on such ordinary pieces.

This month we are rocking FLORALS. If you read my post here then you know how much I'm in looovvve with beautiful flowered fabrics. And with so many to choose from in my closet, it was kinda hard for me to decide which one to rock.

I ultimately went with this look:

I added some pearls and a wide belt to add a classy edge to my cotton floral. I threw on my peep toe sandals and felt like a million bucks. I feel like I'm going to be rocking this same 'fit again in the near future!!

These great navy blue polyester pants were found in the men's section while out thrifting.  I have mastered the art of predicting what will fit me just by looking at an item because I haaaatttteee going into the fitting room. However, since these pants were in the men's section and didn't have a size on the tag  I broke down and went to the fitting room. They were a perfect fit. Price tag-99 cents!!!

This lovely cotton floral is a Mossimo branded thrift item as well...Price tag-99 cents!!! I love how I can dress it up or even pair it with some jeans and it still keeps it's sophisticated flair!

Ahhhh....now my favorite part! The shoes. In last Friday's post, I talked about shoes and how I'm in love with the Nine West brand because of their comfortability and style. Here's one of my latest additions:

An awesome cream colored peep toe heel with studded bows. Yet another thrift find. I watched the ladies seethe with anger as I quickly snatched these up and put them in my basket. Finders, keepers ladies.

How do you rock your florals?

Hot Damn....Here We Go Again...

WHITE....

It's such a gorgeous, classy, chic looking color.

Yet, many have a hard time wearing it.

I myself am a complete klutz so I always fear that I will trip over my own feet and land in a pile of dog pooh while wearing white. Or spill some of my Diet Coke on my white blazer. I tried wearing white here and I was totally embarrassed at how it turned out. So today, I try yet again to rock the infamous hue. This time I'm doing so with a different purpose in mind. I'm joining Kristina from PrettyShinySparkly as she brings some of the hottest, sexiest, most fashionable bloggers together to participate in Assignment #2 of her Bloggers Do It Better Challenge-White Out.

Here are a few of my favorite 'how to wear white' tips:

1. SUIT UP-Mix and match separates with other items in your wardrobe. For a not so formal look, pair a suit jacket or blazer with some tattered white denim.

2.LAYER TEXTURES and TONES-This helps to add dimension to an otherwise boring look. Here I paired an off white, almost cream polyester blended blazer with white cotton bottoms.

I took a vintage thrifted blazer and paired it with some modern NY & Co denim that I found on a $9.99 clearance.

3. ACCENTUATE WITH COLOR-You can add any color you want when working with a white outfit. Color adds flair and chic! I chose to go with a fuchsia belt and silver and gold wedges. (Which by the way are the Shoe Of The Week-go over to AHeartAndSoulStory to check out her challenge)

 I added a pop of color with a patterned shirt, thrifted belt, and topped it off with my staple piece-the vintage wedges.

I thrifted these suckers for 99 cents. I can't wait to style them with some of my other pieces. This fit along with these rules make me a little more comfortable with wearing white during the 'off season'.

What about when old fashioned parents or grandparents for that matter say that 'you're not supposed to wear white before Memorial Day nor after Labor Day'? In New York...Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made Of...

Here's to Spring Break.

Monday marked the start of my 5 day Spring Break and I couldn't be happier. It's been such a loooonnnnggg year so this break couldn't have come at a better time. I decided to treat myself to a mini vacation and travel to New York. I've always been into live entertainment shows so I figured it would be fun to try and get tickets for the Wendy Williams show.  Mind you I applied for the tickets back in February and up until a week before my spring break I still hadn't heard anything sooooo.....I applied again (even though the application clearly stated that you shouldn't apply more than once). I figured it was worth the try. Apparently it was because about 2 days later, I got an email saying that I needed to RSVP by a certain date and time or my tickets would be forfeited. One of my besties, who is originally from New York had the day off so she went along with me. This worked out perfectly because without her I would have been so lost in the 'big city'. Once we arrived, everything was smooth sailing. There were soooo many people though; people from as far as California traveling all the way to NY just to see Wendy. That must feel awesome. Anywho, here are a couple of pics from the trip:

The ladies over at TwoBirdsBoutique have thought of the wonderful idea to host an Inspiration Monday segment in which they pick an awesome outfit and have everyone link up with how they styled their fit based on the picture for the day. I figured that my mini vacation was the perfect opportunity to for me to rock this (which also serves as my pattern segment of the

 Color Rotation).

It was right up my alley!!  Right up my alley to sit in the audience at the Wendy Williams show and almost jump up out of my seat with excitement (during the live taping) when Wendy announced that everyone in the audience would receive a $50 Speigel gift card so that we could cop our very own accessories much like the one's she featured in her 'Spring Trend' segment of the show. Ahhhhhh, I could've screamed when she told us that. Meanwhile, my bestie was WEEEAAAAKKKK because alllllll I talked about on the ride to NY was the giveaway. What girl doesn't love free shopping money!? Needless to say that Speigel doesn't have a store in NY so I have to order something online and pay for shipping. *insert mean face*

Our next stop after the show was of course-the MAC store!! A friend of mine was training at their 'Pro Store' while we were in town so he invited us to come and take a look around. For those of you  who don't know, the 'Pro Store' is where all of the MAC employees go to get their stock.  They have all of the merchandise that you don't see in the 'regular' stores. Basically, it's a warehouse-a MAC warehouse!! How sick is that? When I entered, I instantly became oblivious to any and everything that was going on around me. Here's why:

These pants were picked up on one of my very first thrifty escapades a number of months ago. Upon first glance, I thought to myself that I had to have them because of the gorgeous color....regardless of how they fit. I was on the fence about how I was going to style them because really, who owns green jegging/sweatpant' thingies-let's call them JETPANTS! So I drove home frantically with beads of sweat forming on my upper lip-and BAAAMMM-they fit like a glove! This one thrifty tip turned into a not so expensive obsession and a time consuming, yet very pleasurable online journal which I like to call my blog!!  And I can live with that...

This Rite Here Is My....Swag!!!

There's a tornado watch in my area today! WTH! It was just 85 degrees yesterday!

On an earlier date, I had committed myself to participate in a 'Color Rotation' challenge hosted by Colleen at ScrapandRun. It was created to help us get more use of the colors in our closet. You get to rotate the selected colors for a period of 2-3 weeks. Well, I think it started sometime last week but since my camera has been broken I figured it would make me less of a good blogger to post pictures from my phone because they wont have the sassy backdrops like everyone else's but what the hell, I wanna show my fits so...

I think I'm gonna try the Color Rotation for 2 weeks. So here is my 1st installation of PINK: (it's more of a salmon color)

When I originally began my blog, my goal was to highlight fashion with specific regard to being thrifty while remaining fashionable stylish.

Within my 3 months of blogging, I have realized that being thrifty does not only pertain to fashion-it entails everyday items as beauty products, grocery, as well as dinner dates!!!

With the economy being at an all time low, I have amended my goal a little, tweeny bit just so I could share with you not only my fashion 'cents' but also how I manage to live frugally in all other aspects of life.

....because everyone wants to save a 'lil bit more money these days!

Oh, how I wish you could see my whole outfit! The lighting is horrible. I was actually in the club. I'm using these horribly lit pics because I'm patiently awaiting the arrival of my new camera.

Soooo...whatcha see is whatcha get...

Anywho..my purse is vintage Christian Dior that I found at the thrift store for around $5. It was marked down....wayyyy down obviously but yes it is authentic! The argyle is from the Target clearance rack for a whopping $3.98! I loves me some Tar-jae (in my sexy London accent)! The skirt (you can't see it but yes I'm wearing a skin tight mini skirt) is from a $1 Walmart clearance. And the yellow button up was the most expensive coming in at $7.99 from NY & Co.  The sexy black stilettos (which are unseen as well) were another $5 thrifty find. That brings my outfit total to $21.97-the price of 2 glasses of Moscato plus a tip!
