It's A Dangerous Love Affair...

I want this...
Tucker for Target Dress
I've always had a dangerous love affair with prints, so when I saw that tons of the ladies on Katy's 'Spring Trend' post for Friend Friday. I knew that florals would be my new obsession for this season.

Since today is 'BLUE' day in the Color Rotation, I decided to rock this lovely floral:

Floral..Slacks-Thrifted/Pumps-Payless
I scored this for 99 cent on one of my thrifty escapades! And it's Liz Claiborne. Now back in my hey day, I wouldn't have looked twice at a Liz piece but now that I know the true value of fashion, I wouldn't pass up on a piece like this-and the floral print makes it all the more breathtaking!  I loved how the golden flowers contrasted so perfectly with the dark hues. I added a cognac belt and mustard beads to spruce it up a bit and bring out the colors even more.

My slacks have a slight burgundy pinstripe in them that matches perfectly with the burgundy flowers in my shirt.

See:

How do you rock your florals?

And after you've shared with me how you like to rock your florals, go and grab
The Social Network because it's going to be a rainy night (well in Virginia it is). I know, I know this is an old movie but since I only share movies with you once a week, my list is hella backed up!! Anywho, the BF and I were on the fence about this one because we thought, 'well who the hell wants to watch a movie about Facebook'? We were very pleasantly surprised and we had our eyes glued to the screen the entire time.

The Social Network

MY RATING 9.3/10

If you're not into movies, go grab yourself a good book. This week I'm reading book #7 of 52-
Love Thy Sister, Watch Thy Back by Denise Campbell. Sooooo riveting. If you like drama filled novels, this is definitely for you.

My Eyes Are Green...Because I Eat Alotta Vegetables!!!

Howdy and Happy Tuesday!!!

As you all should know by now, I loooovvvveee, love, love being super frugal and thrifty.

It's a way of life for me.

So I'm especially excited today because my frugalisciousness has landed me a feature on

This blog, hosted by the lovely Miss Jessica (XOXO), is all about remaining fashionable while being super thrifty.  She showcases some fabolous style while highlighting all of her thrifty finds with 'wrinkled dollars' that I'm sure all of us have laying around somewhere. She's super cute too and I'm always amazed by the things that she finds while out thrifting.

(and maybe you'll be the next lady she spotlights)

Jessica rocks green too!

And by the way, you can view my feature by clicking here. Stay tuned because I'm going to be spotlighting her soon as well.

Moving right along to the next color in the Color Rotation Challenge...I'm rocking some GREEN today!

See:

Tan Blazer-NY & Co/Sweater-GAP/Jetpants..Shoes-Thrifted/Bangles-gifted from Auntie

These pants were picked up on one of my very first thrifty escapades a number of months ago. Upon first glance, I thought to myself that I had to have them because of the gorgeous color....regardless of how they fit. I was on the fence about how I was going to style them because really, who owns green jegging/sweatpant' thingies-let's call them JETPANTS! So I drove home frantically with beads of sweat forming on my upper lip-and BAAAMMM-they fit like a glove! This one thrifty tip turned into a not so expensive obsession and a time consuming, yet very pleasurable online journal which I like to call my blog!!  And I can live with that...

I soooo apologize about the horrible lighting and the basket of clothing peeking in on the side!!

How do you rock your GREEN?

And Everyone's Lookin' Round...Thinkin' I'm Goin' Crazy....

I'm so excited about the goodies I found in my mailbox this past week. I'm linking up with A Frugal Friend to share my goods. I'm especially excited that I finally recieved my 150 4x6 color prints from Snapfish (just in time to create some cutesy Easter gifts) and my Beauty Bag from Target which includes over $25 worth of store coupons (btw, they can be combined with manufacturer's coupons to get some good deals). And all of these new magazine subscriptions are gonna keep me occupied for a while!!

Sharing is caring!
What did you get in your mailbox?

This week I did my shopping at Rite Aid and Target. I feel like I spent a ton, when compared to the amounts that I see other couponers spending. Nevertheless, I did score on some pretty high value items. Here are my hauls:

Savin' Maven Monday (Rite Aid)
I had the woooorrrrssssttt experience at Rite Aid. First off they were advertising a special wherein you would get $10 in Register Rewards if you purchased $20 worth of Biore and Ban products (other brands were included but these are the only brands I purchased). I mean the signage was clearly right there next to the listed products. So I go to the register and paid for my first purchase (I used some RR from a previous purchase plus a B1G1 Biore coupon and a coupons for my Ban deoderant) which came up to $9 and change. The problem began when the cashier couldn't use one of my printed coupons because a smidgen of the barcode was cut off (as if the cashier couldn't just manually enter it-SMDH). After the transaction was finalized, I patiently waited for my RR to print out annnddd....it never did. The cashier claimed that this happens occasionally and directed me to call the customer service number. After sitting on the phone with the CS rep for 15 minutes and holding the line up, she told me that there was nothing that she could do because apparently Rite Aid had advertised the wrong products. WTH...um excuse me! What do you mean there's nothing you can do. At this point, I was irrate, livid, boiling hot! I started to leave my pile of mess at the counter but I pressed on. I spoke with the manager who so nicely gave me a $10 refund off of my next transaction.

Whew....couponing ain't easy, I tell ya!

Savin' Maven Monday (Target)
Target was a cinch. I got all of the above for $12.35.  I purchased 4 packages of Olay cleansing wipes at $4.99 each (I used 4 $2.00 off coupons) and recieved 2 $5 gift card which were used on a seperate transaction to purchase the remainder of the goodies. BTW, I used a coupon on every single one of the items I purchased (both at Rite Aid and at Target) and I still have $2.38 left on one of the Target gift cards.

Even though my trip started off a little rocky it paid off in the end!
So there you have it.

I got all this for a grand total of $158.47
my out of pocket expenses were $49.05
for a total savings of $109.42

What did you save on this week?
Leave me a link so I can see!!

This A Fast Life....We Are on A Crash Course!

Heeyyyy!

I hope everyone has had a safe and relaxing weekend! It's almost time to gear up and get right back at 'em for work tomorrow. Are y'all ready? I'm definitely NOT!!

Sometimes you just need a break; not even to sleep though, just for mental purposes! I feel like I'm constantly on a crash course. I just need to let this brain sit down for a second chile.

With that being said, this is not gonna be an extra long post as I am trying to continue to visit some of the ladies who have linked up to the blog hops that I participate in (Modly Chic, Inspiring You to Save, Cute and Little
I just wanted to update you on my progress with the Color Rotation Challenge that I'm participating in with Colleen. Today I'm rocking YELLOW! (I think I've secretly fallen in love)

Sweater-Gap (Thrifted)/Slacks-NY & Co./Gingham Shortie-Am. Eagle

Love this necklace!!

I purchased this necklace from Forever XXI a number of years ago and to my surprise, it has NOT turned on me. Even though I've dropped it and broken the tip of the 'elephant tusk' off, it still reigns supreme!!

How do you like to rock your yellow?

You Gettin' Ready So I Know We 'Gon be Here Awhile...

Morning all. TGIF!!! Seriously, it's been one helluva week!

I haven't participated in Friend Friday in a while so I figured I would indulge today. We were asked to list the Top 5 Spring Trends that we are looking forward to seeing and sporting this year. Spring is one of my favorite seasons so I jumped at the chance to do this one.

I'm sooooo READY for some nice weather!

Here goes my Top 5:

Trenches

I'm SOOOOO obsessed
Wide Leg Trousers

Shop Wide Leg Trousers
Nautical Stripes

I Love Stripes
DIY Denim

DIY Denim
Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits
I can't wait to rock these looks!!! And I can't wait to see what everyone else is thinking about. You can link up your spring trends  by visiting ModlyChic.

I'm definitely ready for spring because I get to experiment with beautiful colors and sweet fabrics. Speaking of color, on this installment of the Color Rotation challenge, I was asked to incorporate the color ORANGE. Now if you love color as well,  you should go over to ScrapandRun and read about Colleen's new challenge.

Sweater.Belt-Thrifted/Jeans-Am. Eagle/Shoes-Steve Madden
I figured that instead of actually rocking an orange shirt, I would just accentuate the outfit with orange accessories.

The necklace is actually a DIY craft of mine. I made a similar one here(I'm gonna be making lots of these in different colors. They're so fun and easy!) I also linked it up on the MadeThisLoveThis DIY collective hosted by Indiana.

Join Made This Love This

The bracelet is a $1.99 NY & Co clearance item and the leopard belt was found on one of my thrifty escapades for around 2 bucks if I remember correctly.

How do you rock your orange?

You Must Not Know 'Bout Me!!!

AWKWARD

-I was about to give up on couponing this week.  All because of a rude a$$ sales associate at Walgreens. Excuse my language, but this heifer had the nerve to rudely tell me that she wouldn't accept my coupons because they weren't printed in color.  What the fudge! Since when did it become a requirement that people use color ink? I don't even think about purchasing color ink. She then very slickly tried to accuse me of making copies of the coupons. So I very gracefully told her that I wouldn't be making a purchase and I left the cart full of goodies sitting right there at the register. She's lucky that I didn't have my coupon policy on hand. But best believe that Walgreens got a nasty gram from me the next day. Then the sales manager had a nerve to call my phone. At that point I was over it and didn't feel like discussing it any further because I clearly expressed all that I had to say about the situation within the email. Therefore, his phone call was irrelevant.
Have you ever had any encounters with rude sales associates?
If so, please share!

-Okay so my officemate and I like to lock the door to our office during business hours to ward off unwanted guests from barging in...and each time someone knocks on the door she yells 'come in' as if she's unaware that the door is locked. And then she has the nerve to 'tsssk' and suck her teeth when they yell that they can't get in because....the door is locked. Some people are sooooo simple. I declare!!!

AWESOME

-My BFF. We've been friends for about 21 years now (OMG-I'm telling my age). We met in the neighborhood that we grew up in. From the very first day we met it was just us against the world. We roller skated our way to a lifelong friendship and even though she's a zillion miles away from me, I couldn't ask for a better bestie.  I just love her. Her name is Vernae and she's one of the reasons I started this blog. She was super frugal and thrifty before I even knew what the words meant. Now she can keep up with me and what goes on in my life;  it also  makes for great conversation topics when we do get a chance to talk.

-I went to my girlfriend's 'fun' party this past weekend. Nothing like a night with the ladies-drinking good wine and conversating about sex toys! And yes, I did purchase some things!!!

-My super frugalicious OOTD (outfit of the day). I mentioned yesterday that I'm participating in the
Color Rotation hosted by Colleen at ScrapandRun

Color Rotation

soooooo.....

this is the second color in my first installment-RED. It's my absolute favorite color so putting this fit together was a cinch! Read below about how much I spent on it!

Vest..Cords..Shoes-Thrifted/Chambray-NY & Co
-Gotta love a thrifty find. 80% of my outfit was found during my 'thrifty escapades'. The
kitten heeled flats are Mossimo (Target) brand but were thrifted for $4.98. The cords were a $2.99 find from CHKD (btw what's your take on wearing cords in warm weather?). The chambray was found on a $9.99 NY & Co clearance rack and the Sag Harbor vest was 99 cents at my local thrift store. Might I add that I love the chambray shirt and would gladly wear it everyday if I could. In fact I love it so much that I have at least 4 of them in varying shades!

For the love of Chambray!

How do you rock your red?

Bag Lady...You 'Gon Hurt Ya Back!!!

I want this....

With Mocha Plaid Satchel

I'm a bag lady. I love big bags, little bags, clutches, satchels, overnight bags, whatever!! I especially like the ones that have alot of color and detail because they can add flavor to any of my outfits. I particularly find lots of nice, unique bags when I'm out on my thrifty escapades. I've been searching for a satchel forever and I found this lovely vintage Eitenne Aigner for $4.98!!!

Vintage Aigner Satchel

It was marked down from $8.98 which was also a great price for this type of designer label. Aigner bags generally range around $150 so this was a definite score for me. I'm soooo excited to wear it too.

What kind of bags do you ladies like?
Leave me a link so I can see.

This Rite Here Is My....Swag!!!

There's a tornado watch in my area today! WTH! It was just 85 degrees yesterday!

On an earlier date, I had committed myself to participate in a 'Color Rotation' challenge hosted by Colleen at ScrapandRun. It was created to help us get more use of the colors in our closet. You get to rotate the selected colors for a period of 2-3 weeks. Well, I think it started sometime last week but since my camera has been broken I figured it would make me less of a good blogger to post pictures from my phone because they wont have the sassy backdrops like everyone else's but what the hell, I wanna show my fits so...

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

So, I used my IPhone

I think I'm gonna try the Color Rotation for 2 weeks. So here is my 1st installation of PINK: (it's more of a salmon color)

Thought I would add more color by throwing on some mustard color beads

I love the small detailing of this NY & Co shirt.

You can read more about the Color Rotation here.

Color Rotation
This challenge is awesome because it can be paired with the Color Brigade that Kileen hosts over at CuteandLittle.

Money in the Bank...Shawty What Cha Think!!

Pretty rough weekend but I'm right back here for another Savin' Maven Monday segment. I learned a few things about couponing and saving money this weekend.

I can live without Wal-Mart!

I can recall a time where I went to Wal-Mart at least 3 times a week. Now, not so much. Of course I will visit for things like office supplies, snacks, and a drink here and there but I save so much more money on cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, and makeup at Rite Aid, Target, and Walgreens. I haven't jumped on the CVS wagon yet but there's a new one close to my house so I'm dying to get there. Also, with chains like Farm Fresh, Kroger, and Harris Teeter doubling and even tripling coupons, who needs Wal-Mart!? I went there yesterday and couldn't find a good deal to save my life.

Oh well!

This week I did most of my shopping at Walgreens and Rite Aid and I also picked up a couple of items from Target (just because I was looking for a housewarming gift). Here's my haul:

Savin' Maven Monday #4
Walgreens was offering a 29 cent special on Easter candies so I stocked up! (I'm gonna make something cutesy for my co-workers because there's NO way I'm eating all of that chocolate) As it gets closer to Easter, be on the lookout for more specials on candies.

Savin' Maven Monday #4
The deodorants and mouthwashes were clearance items that I found in Target. The Rimmel fingernail polishes were 50% off in Walgreens and the Revlon beauty tools were 40% off at Rite Aid. In this shopping trip I  purchased the Colgate toothpaste (2/$6) first and a received a $4 instant reward.  I also received a $2 instant reward from purchasing 2 Skintimate Shaving gels. So that's $6 in free money before I even used my coupons. (BTW all of the coupons that I used were in the Sunday inserts)

Savin' Maven Monday #4

I really came up at Rite Aid as well. I has a $3 off $15 purchase voucher plus a $5 instant reward from a previous purchase. So I applied that $8 to my transactions and walked out of there with 5 more free dollars to use on my next purchase.

My grand total was $157.27
My total OOP (out of pocket) was $33.70
For a total savings of $123.57

I LOVE saving money!!!  And above all else, my stockpile is greatly expanding. So when the gas prices get outrageous and I can't afford to run out to the store to purchase sanitary napkins on a whim, I can just dip into my stock. Gotta love it!

What kind of things did you save big on this week?
I would love for you to share!

All That Bull$*it's For the Birds....

AWKWARD

-Rude people. Especially rude people that you have to work with everyday. I feel like it's common courtesy for a person to acknowledge you when they see you-particularly if they're staring you slam in the face! Shheeeeiiittt....not these rude hags that I work with. I say good morning, they in turn maliciously stare a hole through my existence and continue meandering around the building as if I just spoke a foreign language to them. WTF ladies!?

-A horrible meal at Applebee's with the BF last night. I wanted to finally use the gift card that I received for Christmas so we decided last night would be perfect since I didn't feel like cooking. He ordered Cajun Chicken Shrimp Pasta and I ordered the Dynamite Shrimp. His noodles were hard, stiff, and obviously undercooked while my shrimp floated in a sea of grease. Not wanting to complain (because he has this huge fear of people doing strange things to his food) we sucked it up. Trust I will be sending a nasty gram to them this morning. Because that is unacceptable!

-There must be something in the water because everyone that I work with is pregnant!!! This one lady in particular just had a 13 pounder. Talk about a massive load. So not only did she work up until the day before she was due, but the day after she had the baby she was back at work, visiting, chatting, and walking through the building as if everything were fine. Go sit your a$$ down somewhere lady!!

AWESOME

-My obsessive coupon habit. It saves me soooo much money and my stockpile is growing by the day. I can't wait to share my super frugalicious find with you next week. Come back and visit me for
Savin' Maven Monday. View my previous hauls here and here.

-It's payday!! That means I get to find some great deals today! I can't wait to clock out!

What are your Awkward and Awesome moments of the week? You can link up with Syd at The Daybook to share them!

Thanks for stopping by!
