Comfortably Chic...

Happy Tuesday dears!

I hope everyone's day is off to a great start! I was supposed to schedule this post last night but of course I got caught up doing other things-it never fails! So now I'm up extremely early writing this post before I step out for work.

Usually, Tuesday is reserved for Trendy Tuesday-my favorite blog day of the week where I highlight my favorite trends. Instead of doing that, I will be hooking up with my blog-girlfriends over at
Everybody, Everywear for their monthly series.

This month we were given free reign to pretty much do whatever we liked as this month's theme is...

 'Back To School'

What item better expresses back to school style than the old faithful denim jacket!?

It's a timeless piece-it can be dressed up or down and paired with pretty much anything-much like the  chambray that I wore in this post

I scored this denim at my local and most favorite thrift shop for just $1!!

And now that fall is just around the corner I'm debating on whether or not I should begin to search for a darker shade.

Denim Jacket-Thrifted (Aeropostale)
I wanted to pair this 'fit with something bold so I went for the red jeans. They're almost like a neutral piece for me because I feel like they too are very versatile and can be paired with just about anything.

Jeans-Thrifted
Because I was only going out for dinner in this 'fit I wanted to keep it simple yet effective, so I paired the  red jeans with green stripes and peek-a-boo oxford flats.

I kinda loved how comfortably chic I felt!

What does your Back to School outfit look like?

Savin' Maven Monday: DIY Painted Soles

Happy Monday my loves.

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

Mine was spent with friends and family. No 'honey time' this weekend :-(  I've been stealing so much of his time that I figured both of us needed a break. Not that I didn't want to spend time with him or vice versa-I just needed some 'me' time to catch up on things...things like blogging! I'm sure he doesn't mind the break either.

I also got a chance to work on another DIY project. I gathered inspiration from this post along with these cute shoes in order to create this project.

Here's what you'll need:

***shoes, of course (loafers found on clearance for $6-Old Navy)
***painters tape
***foam brush
***acrylic paint-I used Teal by CraftSmart
***modge podge (not pictured)
***newspaper (or anything else you would like to use to protect your floor)

That's it!
You're ready to begin...

STEP 1: Cover your heel with painter's tape so as not to get paint all over the back of your shoe while painting the sole.

STEP 2: Place newspaper on floor. Paint the heel of your shoe with 3 coats of acrylic paint-you may use as many or as little coats as you like until you reach the shade that you desire. Let dry. I waited at least 24 hours before I moved on to the next step.

STEP 3: I wanted to do something funky and fun with the sole so I taped off sections in order to end up with a striped effect.

STEP 4: Cover the bottom of the shoe with 3 coats of paint-see STEP 2. Allow at least 24 hours to dry then cover both the heels and soles with 1 coat of Modge Podge to create a glossy finish. Allow 1 hour to dry then remove all painter's tape.

This is the end result.

Now I'm not sure how long these soles will remain this pretty teal color but again it was just an experiment. I would've cleaned up the bottoms but since I'm only gonna be walking in them then why bother.

How fun are these though!?

I can't wait to wear them-even if only to see how long the soles will last.

What are your thoughts?

Is this something you would try?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Friday Favorites: Vol #21

TGIF!!!

I'm so ready to be off for the weekend!!!

Nothing big planned-well actually I take that back-my big sis is hosting a 'fun' party one day this weekend but other than that I really just want to rest and get caught up on life.

It's amazing how I preplan for things but always manage to get sidetracked so then the preplanning and prepping becomes null and void. That's the story of my life here lately.

But no one cares about that-let's get straight into some of my fave things of the past couple of weeks.

Being greeted by big Target boxes on my doorstep-um YES!! With shoes in them-double YES!

It's soon to be Homecoming season. I can't wait to visit my Alma mater and see some of my old friends and colleagues.

Sugar and Olive Oil = THEE BEST SKIN SOFTENER EVER! I saw this posted on Instagram and immediately had to try it. It works wonders and it's super cheap. I purchased both items from Dollar Tree.

More beauty products from Dollar Tree.

Sinful Colors nail polishes are on sale for 99 cents this week at Walgreens. I will post on Instagram the ridiculous amount of polish I ended up going home with. Follow me --->@sherockwell

DIY'ing another shirt. This was requested by one of my friends and followers. I thinks she's officially started something big here!

Not sure why I fell in love with these horrendous 'boots with the fur' but I did. Now all I need is some AppleBottoms jeans! HA! Yeah right!!

Inexpensive accessories from Icing! I love when they have their 5 for $10 clearance sales. That's usually the only time I stock up on my collection.

Finally got to wear the cap toe heels that I DIY'ed in this post. Full post coming soon.

Ahhh!!! Cinnabon! Enough said! I heard that Burger King is now selling these. Please tell me it ain't so.

Having movie night with my honey. He picks out such great movies. This one was actually awesome! 8/10 stars.

Yep...we hold hands while watching movies! Mush...

These cuties we met at Kings Dominion-they melted my heart!

This weeks mag swag! Someone please help me read all these!!

What were some of your favorite things this week?

Do share!

Thanks for reading!

Let The Skirt Do The Talking...

Happy Thursday my loves...
I feel like I am soooo behind! With work and school starting again, I'm just a tad bit overwhelmed.

Please excuse me if I haven't been the greatest blogger friend lately. I promise to catch up on reading, commenting, and replying to all of you as soon as possible.

Anywho, lately I've been on this whole closet purging kick-in fact I've talked about it here and here. But I promise to you that just when I decide that I'm fed up with having an overabundance of items in my closet and limited space to store new things, that's when I seem to find the cutest of cute pieces to pair together.

This, for example...

Shirt-Thrifted (Old Navy)

Up until recently, I wasn't a huge fan of skirts!

I mean, I think they look great on the hanger, but on me-well that's a different story!

Skirt-Thrifted (H&M)

The funny thing is that about a quarter of my closet is filled with nothing but skirts.

Perhaps it's safe to say that I'm a bit obsessed with them now!

Especially this one...

It's so bright, flowy, and colorful!

I feel like style is often a direct representation of your personality and this skirt describes me to a tee!

And believe it or not, it was thrifted from Goodwill. H&M tags still attached!

It had me at hello!

Since summer will soon be coming to an end, I wanted to make sure that I wore as many of my cheery colors as possible.

Being that the skirt had a plethora of colors in it, I was easily able to pair it with the cap toe heels that I DIY'ed in this post. I've been dying to wear them and it was only right that I did so with this 'fit.

Cap Toes-FREE and DIY'ed

Ha! I couldn't stop staring at them!

My accessories were pretty simple and a bit matchy matchy, but who cares!

Bracelet-Platos|Ring-Icing

Belt-NY&Co|Purse-Thrifted

I wanted to let the skirt do the talking!

And that it did!!

I love statement pieces!

Which item in your closet makes the biggest statement?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Thanks so much for continuing to read. I appreciate YOU!

Trendy Tuesday: Sneaker Wedges

Happy Tuesday my loves...

I hope every one had a nice, long weekend.

Mine was great! I spent most of my Sunday at a huge family cookout where I was able to introduce my honey to more of my crazy and insane family members and we spent Labor Day at Kings Dominion. I never knew just how expensive theme parks were-GEESH!! Thankfully I was able to get a great deal on the tickets through Groupon-they were two for the price of one. I'm equally thankful that the park was not crowded AT ALL. We were able to get on all of the roller coasters without standing in horrendously long lines. Great fun!

Anyhow today's highlight for Trendy Tuesday is nothing other than this....

Sneaker Wedges...

Sneaker Wedges... by sherockwell featuring suede wedges

I'm sure that by now this trend has invaded every form of social media that you own! And I'm just not sure about it. I'm still on the fence.

Since I'm not much of a sneaker head, I think I would wear them on days when I want to look fashionable and cute without wearing heels and being totally dressed up-sorta like how you would wear a pair of combat boots.

Just visualizing an outfit to pair these with, I have now jumped off of the fence and convinced myself that I need these in my life. The all black pair in the bottom left corner are sold here for $29.99 and that's not so bad.

I would love to hear how you would style yours?
Or if you even like this trend at all!?

Sound off!!

And thanks for reading!
