Black, White, and Pumpkin Spice...

Happy Wednesday Snow Day my loves.

I hope you all are enjoying some much needed time off to relax and take in the beautiful scenery outside.  My area rarely ever gets snow-especially not in January- so this is somewhat of a big deal for us.  I believe the last time we had weather like this it was in the middle of March. Crazy, right!?

Today I want to share with you one of my maternity outfits that I intended to post before the baby got here. Time obviously got the best of me as I was busy nesting and doing baby related chores.

Since I didn't really get a noticeable baby bump until late (about 7 months)in my pregnancy this outfit will look great on a non expectant woman as well.

My Mother gave me this wonderful striped blouse as a birthday gift and I knew immediately that I wanted to pair it with a bold color.

If you're a new visitor, each Tuesday I highlight one trend and come up with an inspiration board containing 3 different styling ideas in my Trendy Tuesday posts. My outfit post for the week usually pertains to the highlighted trend-giving you a chance to see a real life budget friendly version of that trend. View this week's post to see the styling ideas I came up with for the black and white trend.

These bold leggings worked perfectly to bring out the classic black and white pallette. They were found on the red line clearance rack at NY&Co, one of my favorite retailers. I can't wait to style them this Spring.

The elastic waistband made for a comfy belly too!

I'm all about some layers so I figured I would top this fit off with my thrifted Zara corduroy blazer.  The elbow patches had me at hello. This piece is such a staple in my closet.

All in all this may have been one of my favorite maternity outfits-it was super comfy and stylish, and best of all it cost me less than $25.

What are some of your favorite budget pieces from your closet?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.

How To Wear: Black & White

Hello and happy Tuesday my loves!

I hope everyone is off to a great start this afternoon.

I soooo miss being able to blog on a regular basis-my newborn has inevitably taken over my life and I'm totally fine with that because I'm so in love with him.

Whenever I get a free moment these days, I'm undoubtedly blogging or thinking of blogging. I actually think I would rather blog than hang out sometimes. Does anyone else feel that way?

Just me, huh!? OK...greeeaatttt!!!

Anyhow, I wanted to drop in today to share with you some styling ideas that I came up with for the black & white trend. How To Wear: Black & WhiteHow To Wear: Black & White by sherockwell featuring a black sweatshirt

How To Wear: Silver Pumps

Happy Tuesday my loves!

I know I'm late as heck but better late than never, right!?

Just wanted to drop in with a little trendspiration. This year I'm focusing more on motherhood, my goals as an entrepreneur, and lastly meeting and styling more clients. Once I put this bit of information out into the world of social media, a couple of my friends and followers began to ask me for styling advice.

My first diva said that she needed help styling a pair of silver pumps so here are the 3 looks that I came up with...

One look for each personality type-something casual, fun, and flirty-all of which were styled with a hint of edginess in mind. This post actually reminds me that I now own 2 PAIR of silver pumps that I need to style for myself. Funny how being a blogger and helping others allows you to unleash inspiration for yourself as well. Oh, the perks of being creative.

What do you think of these looks?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Trendy Tuesday: 8 Winter Coat Essentials

Well hello everyone!!

Happy Holidays to you. It feels so great to be back-momentarily.

I can't quite apologize about my hiatus this go 'round because most of my regular readers know I've been busy having a baby. And we all know that with a new baby, time, sleep, and regular life activities get interrupted-and sometimes even deleted altogether. I am slowly recovering and enjoying time with my adorable little one. I'm also looking forward to somehow incorporating him and my journey through motherhood into this little blog of mine.

But for now, let's talk about this ridiculously, bone chilling, cold weather. The lowest temperatures in 20 years huh? Wind so cold that schools have cancelled classes-now that's cold.

How well equipped are you for this winter's blistering cold?

I happen to love layering but I don't particularly care for the bulkiness winter coats however these babies had me at hello.

How To Wear: High Waists

Happy Tuesday my loves....

I hope everyone is off to a great start this morning. I'm running a bit late but hey, better late than never, right!?

Today I wanted to discuss a recent trend that I experimented with a couple of weeks ago-high waists. If you aren't a regular visitor, then you probably aren't aware that I'm expecting a baby boy in December. Therefore, when it comes to style these days, I'm drawn towards anything that's comfy and functional for my expanding midsection.

High waistlines afford me the opportunity to completely cover my bump without looking like Steve Urkel. I believe that this style was made especially for expecting women such as myself. I'm not too sure that I would wear this trend if it weren't for my bump.

How To Wear: Coral

Hello and Happy Tuesday my loves....

It's been a while, huh!?

Between baby stuff, work stuff, and school stuff I haven't had much time to focus on my blogger stuff but I made it my business to devote some time to writing today. Tuesday is actually one of my favorite days of the blog week because I get to discuss my favorite trends.  In this week's edition of my 'How to Wear Trends' series I wanted to focus on a color which seems to be the go to hue for all things chic and fabulous.

Coral is one of those beautiful shades of pink that I just can't get enough of. It's actually one of those tints that doubles as a neutral for me because it goes so well with everything.

Dress it up, dress it down-I'm sure this trend will be here to stay for much of the fall season.

How To Wear: Shift Dresses

Hello and Happy Tuesday my loves.

I hope each of you had a great Labor Day weekend. I had a very fun filled weekend with my family and I sort of relaxed and got some things together in my house on my 'free Monday'. Today marks my first official day back at work in over 9 weeks so I'm attempting my blog posts may be pretty sporadic times throughout the day though I will attempt to remain on a good schedule especially for you all. I really do enjoy reading your comments and interacting with all of you so I will try my best to keep everything consistent.

In this week's 'How To Wear' series, I want to discuss one of my favorite pieces to transition into the fall with-shift dresses. These babies are everything. They are so easy to style and and the end result with any shift dress is always effortless yet pulled together for a nice, clean look.

I especially like the variety of styles, patterns, and fabrics which make styling that much more simplistic.

I really enjoy the flirty, casual, and edgy looks listed below but you can also tone your dresses down a little by pairing them with riding boots, loafers, and oxfords. How To Wear: Shift Dresses

How To Wear: Maxis

Happy Tuesday my loves.

I hope everyone had a super weekend. Mine was spent doing lots of couponing in attempt to build up a stockpile of things so that I will be better prepared for the arrival of my little one. I also teamed up with another sponsor and spent some time with my girlfriends at a local event that I will share with you tomorrow so stay tuned.

Today though, I would love to share with you a trend that has become one of my best friends since my baby bump is finally beginning to grow. Maxis are the epitome of the phrase 'effortlessy chic'. They are super comfy, easy to style, and totally feminine.

I love that you can wear them casually with a great pair of flat sandals and chambray, you can go for a sexy look and pair a skin tight midi maxi with bright colors, or you can prepare your maxi for the fall by layering a light moto jacket over some plaid for more of a trendy look.

As I mentioned before, maxis-or anything with elastic, stretch, and/or an expandable waistband-have become like my second home since my lil Peanut has been growing bigger in size lately. I live and die by the stretch!!!

I love that I was able to throw a belted chambray top over this striped maxi for a cool, yet very casual look.

The belted top really highlighted my growing, 23 week belly too. And being that he is so active in here and obviously getting bigger by the second, I'm all about comfort and functionality these days.

I found this dress last year on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx and fell instantly in love with it.

I was beginning to think that I would never find the perfect maxi...

You know, the one that fits all your curves just perfectly and whose length is just long enough to not graze the ground as you walk, yet still show off your cute shoes.

Yep...this is the one!!!

A great $7 investment.

I'm interested to know what features you look for when searching for the 'perfect maxi'...

Is it design, shape, pattern, etc.?

I can't wait to hear from you.

Thanks for reading.
XOXOXOXO

PS...Since I purchased this dress from the tried and true TJ Maxx, I felt it would only be right for me to enter their #Maxxinista contest for a chance to win a gift card to shop with. Please go here to vote for my look.

How To Wear: Leopard Print

Hello my lovelies.

Happy Tuesday.

I hope each of you had a more than amazing weekend. Mine was very productive-I spent lots of my time shopping and finding awesome couponing deals that I will soon share with you all. I also got some news about some awesome opportunities and partnerships that will be coming up on the blog soon.

Today, for Trendy Tuesday, I want to highlight another one of my top trends-leopard print. I actually may be wrong in my classifying this as a trend because leopard is actually a really timeless and classic print that has been around for ages. LOL. Much like the rest of the styles that we consider to be trends these days-they've all been here before!

I like to think that leopard is worn best as a the main focal point of any given outfit combination. When styling leopard it's best to turn down the volume on the other pieces that you may pair with it. I like to wear my animal print eclectically, casually, or playfully like done in the following outfits.

How To Wear: Denim Vests

Hello and Happy Tuesday my loves!

I hope everyone is off to a fabulous start today. I had huge plans of getting up early and going to the gym for some quick cardio but this unforeseen rain is putting a damper on my motivation level (pun intended). Sound like an excuse to me....and yep it probably is. Seriously, I really need to get more disciplined about this whole fitness thing.

For now though, I'll be satisfied with blogging about some of my favorite trends. This week in my 'How To Wear' series, I'm covering one of my absolute faves-the denim vest. You absolutely CAN.NOT go wrong with this piece. The greatest part about this item besides it's obvious versatility is the fact that they are extremely affordable. If you're a huge thrifter like me, you may have been lucky enough to find a great denim jacket on one of your excursions; cut the sleeves off with a seam ripper and there you have a masterpiece.

You can dress these babies up, dress them down, or even do something casual with them like so...How To Wear: Denim VestsHow To Wear: Denim Vests by sherockwell featuring a pointed toe stilettos

How To Wear: Polka Dots

Hello and Happy Tuesday my loves.

I hope each of you are off to a great start. I scheduled this post because I knew I would be out of town having the time of my life at Mrs. Carter's concert but I wanted to leave you all with some content to pique your interest until I returned.

Today I want to continue with my 'How To Wear' series; I started this series about a month ago and it just adds a bit of a twist to my regular Trendy Tuesday theme. With this series, I explore a little bit more of my creative side as I style and put together different pieces according to the hottest and most talked about trends of the moment. Although I try to keep all of the items within budget, I do sometimes like to include great investment pieces that will get plenty of use in your closet(s).

This week, I bring to you one of my favorites-Polka Dots. I last talked about polka dots here and since then I don't think they fallen off not one bit. Polka dots are such a fun and classic trend and if styled correctly, can be very fun and intriguing to the eye of the onlooker.

There's soooo much that you can do with this trend. You can go with a classic fit, mix prints, or even do something androgynous as pictured below. How To Wear: Polka Dots

Now tell me, how do you prefer to rock your dots?

I can't wait to hear from you!

How To Wear: Crop Tops

Hello and Happy Tuesday to all of you!

I hope your day is off to a more than amazing start.

Since beginning my 'How To Wear' series, I've found that I've completely fallen in love with it. This series gives me a chance to put together items and style various outfits that I may or may not currently have in my closet.

For others this series may serve as inspiration, but for me it serves more as a wish list of things that I would like to have as well as outfits that I am likely to wear or suggest to a client.

Today, I chose to talk about the all too popular trend of crop tops. I have always loved crop tops but have been somewhat opposed to wearing them myself because I happen to think that I have a less than stellar midsection. One of my blogger friends that rocked the snot out of this look however, is Inez from Style Chic 360. She gave me total life with this crop top ensemble.

I believe that the essential key to making this trend work is to pair it with high waisted bottoms. This creates a timeless and classic silhouette. Showing too much midriff when wearing crop tops gives off a somewhat tasteless and 'childlike' look.

The following looks can be worn comfortably and respectively for date night, a concert or festival event, or even girls night out.
How To Wear: Crop TopsHow To Wear: Crop Tops by sherockwell featuring buckle purses

What are your secrets for pulling off the crop top trend?

I can't wait to hear from you!

Until then, thanks for reading!

How To Wear: Wide Leg Jeans

Hello and Happy Wednesday my loves.

I hope everyone is off to a great start thus far. It has been painstakingly hot in my area this week so I've been stuck in the house for the most part-and I'm totally fine with soaking up this air.

I'm a day late with posting but I just wanted to drop by with the 4th and final installment of my 'How To Wear Jeans' series. If you missed any of the other segments, you can view them here, here, and here.

This week, I'm discussing wide leg jeans. Since skinny leg and boyfriend denim came along, I haven't seen much of this style. However, I swoon everytime I see someone rocking them. My favorites include Christie and Cortnie-they seem to have this style mastered to a tee!
How To Wear Jeans: Wide Leg

How To Wear Jeans: Wide Leg by sherockwell featuring 7 for all mankind

The key to rocking this style is to pair your denim with a platform or wedge high enough that allows just a small amount of the hem to graze the floor. It definitely gives off a better look when a majority of the shoe is covered up; high watered wide legs are just not flattering-at all!!! On the other hand, flats are a definite no-no with wide legs. Because the inseam of wide leg denim measures a little longer than normal styles, wearing flats with them allows too much of the hem to skim the floor causing unnecessary fraying and tearing.

There's something so sleek about a wide leg and I can't wait for some slightly cooler weather so that I can rock mine in comfort. Hello Fall!!!

What's your favorite way to style wide leg denim?

I can't wait to hear from you.
Until then, thanks for reading!
XOXOXOXO
