Keep It Simple...

Happy Thursday my loves.

Or should I say-TGIT!!!

Thank Goodness It's Thursday. During the summer, Thursday marks the end of the work week for me. I'm totally excited about that. I hope every one's day has gotten off to a splenderific start! Mine has definitely started on the right foot because I was able to wake up next to 'the dude' this morning. He makes me smile so much!

Gasp! I'm being wayyy too sentimental here. I need to toughen up because you all did NOT come here to hear about my mushy love life.

**snaps out of it**

Okay, so let's talk about how comfortable outfits like this make me...

Thrifted Belt and Purse
I love that I can chill in it without feeling too dressed up and I can even wear it on a casual date without feeling underdressed.

I feel like overall I'm a pretty simple chic. I love classic pieces, bold colors, cute T-shirts, and pretty shoes. And most of all-comfort and versatility! What girl doesn't, right!?

I have noticed though since I began blogging a year and a half ago, that I tend to lean more towards neutral colors as opposed to bold and bright. As Tim Gunn would put it-'I stay safe'!

I love mixing different pops of color here and there but for the most part, I am pretty....well, safe! I admire the ability of other bloggers who are able to mix patterns and wear awesomely colorblocked outfits. Though I have a ton of color in my wardrobe, I'm just not able to go out everyday like I'm ripping the runway-especially not when I'm just going to run errands. So I keep it minimally simple.

Cargos-GAP
Sometimes I feel as if my 'fits are a little too boring. Take this outfit for instance...

Wedges-Platos
In the grand scheme of things, there's really not much that stands out about it. It's just a simple T-shirt, rolled up cargo's, and studded wedges. Nothing to run home and tell mom about.

But there is something special about it in my eyes-it's classic, it's unexpected, and most of all it's ME-safe, simple, and real!!

Do you ever feel like your 'fits are too 'safe and simple' to blog about?

Corally Yours...

 Happy Friday you all.

Is it summer or is it summer? She came in with one helluva bang huh? Almost 100 degrees and the new season just hit. I'm preparing myself by stocking lots of bottled water, magazines, and library books so that I can remain nestled inside my house with the A/C on full blast. Though I am a summer baby, me and heat don't mix well at all!!..

As I was scrolling through my Facebook timeline, I noticed that many of my blogger friends had posted outfits for the Bloggers Do It Better series. Usually, I will receive an email beforehand but this time I didn't. Kristina hasn't done one of these challenges in close to 3 months so I had just assumed she had done away with it. WRONG! It's back and it's in full swing. This month's challenge was to style coral and mint; upon first thought, I figured that I would definitely sit this one out because really, who the hell owns mint items!? Then I thought about these mint colored BCBG pumps that have been collecting dust in my closet.

Pumps-BCBG (old)
I paired them with a coral blouse and destroyed jeans and the end result was this...

Top-Target/Jeans-Bare Feet
My absolute fave part of the 'fit is my vintage Dooney and Bourke. I love how the neutral color allows it to be pair with a huge variety of outfits.

Purse-Vintage (thrifted)

All in all I felt the outfit was really simple and definitely looked better in my mind than it does in the photographs. Some combinations just don't go over well on camera.

This is definitely one of them.

I don't know; maybe it's the shirt!  Maybe I should've gone braless because my strap kept peeking out.  Maybe I should've paired it with a pant that had a bit more detail. Maybe even a printed pant.

Then again, maybe I'm over this whole outfit!!!

What would you have paired this coral top with?
I need suggestions for the next time I style it, PLEASE!!

Go here and check out how my other blogger friends style their coral and mint.

WOTS: It's NOT A Fashion Statement...

I want these...

StatementRings

3FingerRings
I am soooo in love with these statement rings right now. Especially the 2-3-4 finger ones. The only downfall is that your fingers WILL NOT budge when you put those bad boys on. I think it's funny because I put mine on the other day and went to wave at my friend and instead of waving, it ended up looking like I was telling her to 'talk to the hand' (do people still say that) or motioning for her to stop or something. It was stupid! But I didn't care.

How far are you willing to go to make a fashion statement?

Those shoes that LadyGaga has been seen sporting lately...yeah, the ones with no heels.  Seriously, if I ever see a chick other than GaGa wearing them I would personally go to her and tell her what a freaking idiot she looked like.

What about the whole facial tattoo craze!? What in THEE world? Why would anyone do that? More importantly, where are you working with a tattoo on your face? The day that face tattoos became popular was the day that I said goodbye to all fashion rules because obviously fashion, just like beauty, is only in the eye of the beholder.

How about the 'Barbie' trend thing that Nicki Minaj has gotten these young (and a lot of older girls) hooked on? WHAT is this about? Why would anyone ever want to be a Barbie? Sure she has all the pretty clothes, the perfect hair, and a gorgeous man. But she's FAKE. F-A-K-E. She can't even have kinky sex because her legs won't spread open wide enough.

So for now, I will just stick to my statement rings,

girly dresses,

buy one get one for a penny rope wedges,

and vintage Dooney and Bourke

What's your favorite statement piece?

FBFF: Just Throw It in the Bag...

I have an obsession...with shoes...with clothes...and with purses! I need the big ones too. The ones that you stuff all of your junk into and  then struggle when you get to the cash register at your favorite store to look for the loose change that has found it's way to the tiniest crack at the bottom of the purse. I like clutches too. However, they are oftentimes not big enough to fit everything that I would like them to. They definitely fall into the 'statement pieces' category. They are like an addition to your outfit and I definitely don't wear them as a regular outfit piece. I like to carry too much junk around-just in case I may need something. What about the vintage ones? I've never really been into Coach much but I love the hell out of a classic Dooney and Bourke. There's just something about them that's timeless. The new age ones are too fancy for me. Some things are just better with simplicity.

Marie-Eve over at APrettyNest asked to take a look into my bag on Friday. Actually a ton of us got together over here to share exactly what we had in our bags this weekend.

So here's my favorite vintage Dooney and Bourke

Thrifted Dooney and Bourke

And this is a general idea of what I carry in it

Just general stuff-comb, iPhone, the mini Crown Royal bag that doubles as a change purse, lotion, sanitizer, lip stuff (I love lip stuff), gum, petty cash, ID, fragrance oil, and my blog journal. I carry these items everywhere, no matter the size of the purse. These are my essentials.

What's your favorite type of bag?

And what do you carry in your bag?

You can link up and share 'what's in your bag' here.

WOTS: I'm Tryna Put the BOOM in the Trunk!!

I want this...

Trunk Sale
No...I don't want the picture or any of the actual contents in the picture either.

I want to have my own little trunk sale!!!

When I go thrifting, I always find myself drifting towards the vintage section, remaining there for a very lengthy amount of time. When I'm not thrifting, I daydream about vintage pieces and how I can incorporate them into my modern wardrobe.

I'm becoming more obsessed with vintage by the day.

It's classic. Timeless. Beautiful. Delicate. And most times...it's worth a pretty penny!

This past weekend my Mother and I got up at the butt crack of dawn to go to a downtown 'garage sale' that she had mentioned to me a couple of weeks back. I was A-mazed when we arrived. There were vendors everywhere!  The city had literally rented out the EN-TIRE bottom floor of a parking garage and allowed as many vendors as it could fit to sell their goods. They called it an 'Outdoor Flea Market'! LOL!!

People were selling some of everything....

From old antiques:

Trunk Sale

To jewelry...

Trunk Sale
People even had tubs full of lotions, body washes, and baby diapers

Trunk Sale
We (my Mom and I) plan to set up shop next month. They only hold these sales on the first Saturday of each month so this gives me plenty of time to sort through my massive pile of vintage finds. I'm sooooo glad that I finally have a spot where I can possibly sell some of my beauties.

What do you think of trunk sales?
Have you ever attended one?

Okay, so I'm going to forgo my movie review this week because after X number of weeks (it's alot of weeks) of doing this I've noticed that I haven't gotten any great feedback on it. So I will leave it up to tell me where I should go from here...

Do you enjoy the movie reviews each week?
 Yes/No...
(you don't have to leave a detailed response if you don't wanna)
