Fun and Feisty Colorblock...

Hello and Happy Thursday my loves.

I hope everyone is off to a great start. We are one day closer to the weekend and boy am I excited. I will be participating in the Yours/Mine Secondhand Shopping Soiree (YMSSS) event this Saturday, August 4 on the rooftop of a very posh lounge located in the heart of  Washington, DC. If you're in the area you should definitely check it out. View more details about the event here

In my last post, I discussed polka dots and just how lovely they are. I figured that it would only be right if I styled some of my own in today's outfit post.

I'm a huge fan of bold colors so this particular combination made me feel all types of bright and cheery. My favorite part has to be the shoes-it's amazing just how many ways these highlighter yellow Prabal Gurung sandals are able to be styled without seeming out of place.

The only negative thing I have to disclose about these sandals (to those of you who have purchased them and have yet to wear them) is what everyone else has been saying-the ankle straps are madly possessed!! They obviously do what they want-the little fastener part will not stay closed over long or even short periods of time. This major mishap has therefore left me literally walking out of my heels in the middle of my church parking lot.

Talk about EMBARRASSING!!!
Oh, the things we endure for the sake of beauty!!

Nevertheless, they still complimented my clearance rack polka dots very well. The pink skirt was also a very classic must have that I scored from one of  NY and Co's crazy sales.

This outfit gives me a totally different outlook on colorblocking-it doesn't have to be boring and plain. Instead, I prefer fun and feisty!!!

What are your favorite shades to colorblock?

I can't wait to hear from you!
Thanks so much for reading.

How To Wear: Polka Dots

Hello and Happy Tuesday my loves.

I hope each of you are off to a great start. I scheduled this post because I knew I would be out of town having the time of my life at Mrs. Carter's concert but I wanted to leave you all with some content to pique your interest until I returned.

Today I want to continue with my 'How To Wear' series; I started this series about a month ago and it just adds a bit of a twist to my regular Trendy Tuesday theme. With this series, I explore a little bit more of my creative side as I style and put together different pieces according to the hottest and most talked about trends of the moment. Although I try to keep all of the items within budget, I do sometimes like to include great investment pieces that will get plenty of use in your closet(s).

This week, I bring to you one of my favorites-Polka Dots. I last talked about polka dots here and since then I don't think they fallen off not one bit. Polka dots are such a fun and classic trend and if styled correctly, can be very fun and intriguing to the eye of the onlooker.

There's soooo much that you can do with this trend. You can go with a classic fit, mix prints, or even do something androgynous as pictured below. How To Wear: Polka Dots

Now tell me, how do you prefer to rock your dots?

I can't wait to hear from you!
Thanks for reading.
XOXOXOXOXO

Trendy Tuesday: Let's Polka

Hello lovelies!

It's my favorite day of the blog week and I'm finally back for another installment of Trendy Tuesday.

This particular trend has actually been one of my faves since early spring.

Of course, then it wasn't on every one's 'must have' list but I have since seen it invade and even take over the blogosphere and runways.
Let's Polka...

J.Crew long sleeve shirt / Polka dot blouse / Comme Des Garçons Play white tee, $165 / Jane Norman peplum shirt, $36 / Dorothy Perkins / Yumi , $52 / Motel high waisted jeans, $78 / Abercrombie & Fitch polka dot jeans / Abercrombie & Fitch polka dot jeans / Abercrombie & Fitch polka dot jeans / Abercrombie & Fitch polka dot jeans / Platform sandals / Madewell / Surgical steel earrings / White watch / Leather glove, $92 / Miso hair accessory, $8.10

JCrew, Old Navy, and Gap have been some of my favorite go to places for the best selections that polka dots have to offer.

Even Target has jumped on board.

Last week I pictured a pair of gray skinnies that have me drooling in this post

I don't know...

There's something incredibly classy and chic about a polka dot.

Wouldn't you agree!?

XOXOXOXO

The Final Stand Up...

Hello Wednesday!!!

I hope everyone is doing well. I can hardly believe that the week is almost over-but I'm thankful nonetheless. I always look forward to the weekends. Today's outfit post was inspired by the Trendy Tuesday installment that I created last week. It highlighted polka dots and gingham. I had never thought to put the two patterns together, however, I was quite pleased with how it turned out.

I wore this 'fit to see Steve Harvey's final stand-up show a couple of weeks ago. Luckily the weather in my area is still a bit cool during the evening so I was able to get away with layering this thrifted sweater over my gingham button up.

Sweater-Thrifted (Liz Claiborne $.99)
The blue gingham added somewhat of a decent contrast to the bright red. With both of my tops being so bold in color I was undecided about what kind of bottoms to put on. I didn't want anything too drastic so I went with these stonewashed skinnies. I actually love them because they work well with any combination. They're really thin too so they can also be worn as leggings.

Gingham/Skinnies-Thrifted (both $.99)
My old faithful Paisley pumps from Target sealed the deal here!

(SIDENOTE: I'm linking this fit up to Work It Wednesday-head on over to see how others 'work' their Wednesday 'fits)

Now, on to Steve Harvey. He is a complete and utter fool. I went to one of his shows a while back when was in Charlotte, NC. Myself, my mother, and a few others took a 4 hour road trip to see him. That's how much I love him. Not only is he extremely funny but he is an incredible inspiration for me. Each and every morning I listen to his radio show-from 6AM-612AM he hosts an inspirational segment wherein he discusses how his faith in God has allowed him to be the huge success that he is today. He explains how we must make God first in everything that we do in order to receive life in abundance.  His radio show never fails to keep me laughing hysterically on my way to work in the mornings. I'm so glad that I got to see him in concert one last time before he retires from stand up. I'm totally looking forward to his new talk show coming this fall as well. I'm going out to purchase a DV-R just for that reason. I'm a bit obsessed.

Who is the one celebrity (or even non-celebrity) figure that gives you inspiration? The one whom you will always support no matter what? I'm so interested to hear your answers.

Thanks for reading!
XOXOXO
