I Really Can't See the End Getting Any Closer...

Happy Wednesday friends! Today happens to be a very special day for me because it marks the day that I finished my very first 30 for 30 challenge! This marks the day that I will do my last remix. I am totally fed up with seeing those same 30 pieces and I felt that if the challenge were any longer, I would have bailed out.  With so many other cute things in my closet I felt that I was being unfair to them.  Not to mention that I didn't save any money while doing the challenge-if I found a good bargain, I shopped....and shopped....and shopped! Overall, the challenge left a bad taste in my mouth. And I blame that entirely on the fact that my work dress code limited me from remixing my pieces the way I wanted to. If it weren't for that, I would have included more bold pieces and definitely a pair, or three, of stilettos.  But really, who wears that type of stuff in a building full of elementary school students? Needless to say, if Kendi were to have a challenge in the summer when I could have more control over my fits, I would ecstatically do it all over again!

On to other news, last week I mentioned that for 'Word on the Street Wednesday' I would embark on a journey to read '52 Books in 52 Weeks'-for some of you who are looking simply at the computer and scratching your heads, that's 1 book each week. Due to the technicalities of a broken camera, I was too distraught to begin last week, so I will begin now. It would have been much better for me to start at the beginning of the year but seeing as how we are already 7 weeks into the new year, I will just subtract 7 weeks and do 45 books instead. I'm a nerd at heart and seeing as how illiteracy is a huge issue in today's society, I challenge you to join me. You may leave your comments below.  The book that I'm going to start with will be 'The Coldest Winter Ever' by Sister Souljah. I believe that I may have read this book non-stop in 3 days flat.  It is an urban fiction (as most of my books are) but if you're into good entertainment and you want to know what really goes on in the life of a teen-aged girl living in NYC's projects, this is it!

Excerpt:
I came busting into the world during one of New York's worst snowstorms, so my mother named me Winter. Ghetto-born, Winter is the young, wealthy daughter of a prominent Brooklyn drug-dealing family. Quick-witted, sexy, and business-minded, she knows and loves the streets like the curves of her own body. But when a cold Winter wind blows her life in a direction she doesn't want to go, her street smarts and seductive skills are put to the test of a lifetime. Unwilling to lose, this ghetto girl will do anything to stay on top.
And here's my finale for the 30 for 30-it's nothing big so you don't have to roll out a red carpet or do a drum roll or anything-it's just ME:

With all of that being said, I hope that you all have a Happy Wednesday and for those of you involved in the challenge, good luck with the rest of your 30 for 30!! Thanks for reading! Ciao!

I'm On the Right Track Baby, I Was Born This Way...

I'm jumping for joy because I think I found another 'baby'! I placed a bid on not 1 but TWO cameras last night, so everyone keep your fingers crossed in hopes that I can at least win one of them! Hopping with happiness because it's Thursday and I've had the loooonnngggeeessstttt week ever...it's been so hectic with work, school, Valentine's Day, blogging, etc. I desperately need to take a personal day.  Here are my A&A's for the week.

AWKWARD

-One of my girlfriends coming up to me and saying, "Dang girlfriend, it's time to get your roots redone!" She's a white girl, so I tried to explain to her the difference in our texture of hair. I can't bleach my hair the instant that my roots begin to peak out or else I will need to purchase a wig to cover up my bald head. Sorry, girlfriend but it doesn't quite work like that; black don't crack but our hair will surely fall out if we over process it!

-I cry every time I watch American Idol. I get so emotional when I hear some of their life stories.

-People at work who use the fax machine to make copies rather than just using the COPY MACHINE! I mean, that is what it's made for right? Sheesh, where do these people come from?

-The feeling that I get when turning down someone who has invited me out to lunch after I've told him that I have a BF. And yet again insisting that I take his number down 'just in case'. Um, no!

-People walking around barefoot.....on public school floors! Yuck!!!

AWESOME

-The Gap. They are having a huge sale! Take an additional 40% off of the lowest sale priced items! I can't stay out of there!

-Strawberry and Orange Creme Valentine Chocolates!

-The Paper Doll Project-this is where you can get connected with another blogger and “dress” each other for a day. The project begins on March 22 and I'm excited to participate. Click on the link for more info.

-Today's outfit:

-11 more outfit remixes to go. Because of my work dress code, I can't do everything that I would like to. So if you're looking at my 30 for 30 outfits closely-you're probably thinking that my wardrobe is soooo dry! Such is not the case!

Thanks for reading friends.

I Only Want to see You Bathing in the Purple Rain!

Soooo, I took off for the weekend.  The 30 for 30 seriously had me worn out ALL-Ready!! Not to mention my weekend started off horrendously with a flat tire-I'm getting over a cold so I was trying to blow my nose while driving and.....WHAM right smack into the curb and busted my tire open!  Thank Mom for AAA-I've called those suckers TWICE in the last two months. If I keep going at this rate I might as well purchase some stock in the company.  I had a ton of homework I needed to catch up on and to top it off I had to do some birthday shopping for my mother-that took lots of brainstorming because really, what do you get for a woman who has everything!?  At any rate, one of my other projects for the weekend was to start scrolling throught Kendi's 'Remixer List' to see if I can add some new friends. And when I say scrolling I really mean scrolling-I started with the A's and have clicked my way through every single blog up until I stopped to write this post and I am currently on the E's.  Maybe I will be finished by the end of the challenge, maybe I won't!  While vigorously scrolling and clicking I was disappointed to see that several people haven't even updated their posts in months and suprisingly so, many of the remixers started their blogs specifically for the challenge. And to that I say:
"Damn Kendi, you gots skillz! Hats off to you and all of your flyness!"

Speaking of flyness, check out mine:
