I'm Just Doin Me and You Could Never Understand It..I'm Goin In

I'm going in...straight to the point. Because it's Thursday!

-I hate it when people scuff their shoes on the floor as they walk. Pick up your damn feet...doesn't that sound irritate you? What are some of your pet peeves?

-The infamous chain text messages. The ones I hate in particular are those that tell you 'if you don't forward this, your life will be doomed' or 'if you forward this, the love of your life will realize that he is in love with you'! Really? First, I will not let a measly text determine the fate of my life and second my beau has already come to the realization that he's in love with me. Therefore....they are sooooo pointless.

-The fact that Charlie Sheen has apparently gone off the deep end. I mean I absolutely love him in 'Two and A Half Men'. I guess celebrities have problems too-and most times they are worse than those of us 'normal' people.

-When people say 'pacific' instead of 'specific'. What!

-Guys!! What's the point of going to the women's section to buy skinny jeans only to have them hanging off of your a**? Walking contradiction!

-$7.99 sale at NY & Co. I will share my scores with you on a later post.

-Clipping coupons

-Finding new sites to follow... like Meet Virginia Design and Thrifted Things. I love finding really cute sites with really cute girls who wear really cute things!

-American Idol. It's so good this year. I watched the Top 12 Girls last night. These chicks have soul! I'm having a hard time choosing which one is better. Would love to hear what you guys think. I will be tuned in tonight!! My prediction for tonight's Top 5 is as follows:

Haley Reinhart

Kendra Chantelle

Lauren Alaina

Thia Megia

AND

Karen Rodriguez

-TGI Friday's tonight with my girls. One has a birthday today, and one had a birthday yesterday! Can't wait! And you knooooowww I'm gonna be fully equipped with a coupon clipped.

-The 30 for 30 challenge is over so I can finally show the rest of my closet some love. How about it!

Blazer-XXI/Shirt-Slacks-Cardi-NY & Co/Belt-Shoes-Thrifted
-The treasured pieces in the above fit are....awesome. Let's see-the BLAZER was a XXI find from Plato's Closet. I had been searching for a 'nautical' navy blazer all over and BAM! Found it for $7.99! The BELT is yet another thrifty find-going for all of 78 cents! I can't wait until spring finally hits so I can get my money's worth out of it! Lastly, the SILVER SHOES. They remind me of the shoes that Dorothy wore in the Wizard of Oz. They too, were one of my thrifty finds over at CHKD. Loves em. They're gonna be one of my staple pieces for the spring as well.

It Ain't Tricking If You Got It....

It's Top 2 Tuesday.

It just so happens that today's topic is about money. I think that ties in perfectly considering that my blog was created in order to highlight my life of frugality.  In terms of money, I've learned that:

1. You should never buy full price items.  More often than not, if it doesn't have a sale sticker, red line, coupon, discount, or promotion of some type, it's better that I leave it right where it is. Some people, on the other hand, just have to have the newest item-as soon as it hits the racks.  And to those I say, do whatever floats your boat honey. I personally prefer to wait until things get marked down or I at least try to plan my shopping around the coupons or promotional codes that I receive. I mean seriously, why buy that brand new blazer out of NY & Co for $60 bucks when you can wait a month or so-until they mark it down to $7.99.  Sure it may be out of season and the sizes may be picked through but your pockets will be a lot heavier if you wait. Or you can even hit the thrift store. I give props to those gals who are frivolous with their money, the name brand shopper! I guess it ain't tricking if you got it though. But guess what, our closet looks the same and I spent less on my whole closet than you did on one item. I like to shop for less. I'm not cheap, I'm thrifty and shameless!!

2. Create a budget for yourself. You can do this monthly, weekly, or even daily. Last year I would often wonder how I always ended up scraping the barrel at the end of every two weeks. That's because I didn't set any limits for myself.  Because I shop frequently, I prefer a weekly budget. In my budget I include my monthly bills versus my income and I also include other expenses like gas, food, and even shopping. Yes, I give myself a shopping budget. You can find budget worksheets and templates here and here

Unfortunately, I cannot post my Color Brigade fit of the week at this time because I'm posting from work and all of my pics are stored on my home computer BUUUTTT as sooon as I step foot in my house I will update the post. You can participate with Kileen over at Cute and Little.

The Game Needs Change and I'm the Cashier...

TGIF...no really, I am sooooo glad it's Friday. And it's nice outside. And I have Monday off. Besides the fact that my office mate is in a pissy mood and someone outbid me on the camera that I wanted, this day couldn't be any better.  So I'm still without a camera but looking on the bright side of things, that's the reason why I have this nifty IPhone. It comes in so handy in times like these. Please excuse me if any of my upcoming pics are a little less than blogger-ly.

Oh what shall I do this weekend? I don't have anything mapped out as of yet but what I do know is that I NEED to change- I need to stop procrastinating and spend my evening doing something productive, like organizing my house. But beforehand I'm gonna fit in a quick trip to the thrift (try saying that fast 5 times). LOL-didn't I just say I needed to change-that would include eliminating some of my thrift store trips. My excuse is that it relaxes me after a long week of work. You agree? (say yes)

I'm skipping out on FBFF today because I don't really have much to say on the topic of Body Image and what I've learned about it through blogging. Either ya got it or ya don't-that's my motto and I'm sticking to it.

I'm doing this instead (click the link below the pic to participate):

Five ? Friday

1. Have you worn the same outfit more than one day in a row? Hells yes!! Especially when I have a late night out and need to be up early in the morning to run errands or something. Clean the essential areas, swap out undergarments and keep it moving!

2. If you had to choose any LARGE city to live in, which would it be? It's a toss up between LA and NY. I'm leaning more towards LA though because for one the weather is always gorgeous and their thrift stores are a shopoholic's dream come true. Can you imagine, all of those celebrities donating their gently used or brand new clothing because it won't fit in their closets.

3. Fly or drive with the kids on vacation? Oh my goodness, which one would be worse? I think I'm gonna go with flying-even though I don't have kids yet, I just think that their behavior would be a little better in the presence of others.

4. What is your idea of 'spring cleaning'? Purging and getting rid of all of the winter things that went unused; Disinfecting and cleaning things like blinds and windows, Organizing closets, Redecorating with spring colors. I really love this:

Spring Decor

5. What is the best book you've ever read?  The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah. Read more about it in my 'Word On the Street Wednesday' feature.

And this too (follow instructions from above to participate):
Fill in the Blank Friday

1. I am an extremely private and introverted person. Creating this blog has allowed me to open myself up to the whole world; it has allowed me to accept that everyone doesn't view things in the same way that I do. It has allowed me to better express myself and serves as a visual journal for me.

2. The bravest thing I've ever done was hold a stranger's man through a heart attack/stroke. It happened so fast. I was coming out of the grocery store and I saw this man sitting on the bench with his eyes rolling back into his head. I noticed he was heaving terribly. When I touched him his whole body felt tense and extremely tight so I checked for a pulse and....nothing! While telling the associates to call 911, I grabbed his hand and prayed while keeping my other hand on his neck as to wait for some sign of a pulse. Moments later, his chest relaxed, his eyes stopped rolling, and he was releasing his hand from mine.  This man was gonna go right on about his business for the day until the ambulance arrived. They had to fight with him to take him to the hospital!

3. I feel prettiest when I put my hair in a wild ponytail on top of my head. I think if accentuates my bold facial features.

4. Something that keeps me awake at night is the BF.  I swear he has a serious issue with getting to sleep at night. Unless, of course, we have 'sookie time' before bed. Otherwise, he's up bumbling around playing the game, making beats, or doing countless other retarded things! Gotta love him!

5. My favorite meal in the entire world is my mother's smothered turkey wings with white rice! I'm calling her right now to request some!

6. The way to my heart is through romance-it's the little things that matter the most!

7. I would like to travel the world...and have a mini shopping spree in each destination!

I wore this:

And this:

Thanks for reading y'all. Have a great weekend!

I Just Want it To Be Over...

Whew...yesterday was one helluva day...I worked 14 hours straight so unfortunately I'm tired and cranky today. Nevertheless, I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine's Day with someone special. For those who don't celebrate VDay, I hope that you enjoyed anyway.  I have a bunch of random thoughts today. First and foremost is the fact that I'm ready to finish this 30 for 30 challenge already! Not that I don't love it, because I do-it makes getting ready for work so much easier in the morning. Even still, I have a number of reasons for wanting to finish early:

1. I'm more than halfway done and beginning to get antsy!

2.. I began taking outfit pics the minute Kendi decided to do a challenge for the winter so I already have them on hand to load up in my posts, otherwise they are just purposelessly sitting in a file on my computer.

3. I have to prepare for midterms so I won't have as much time to dedicate to detailed posts.

4. There's no set deadline...so I can do what I want!

5. LAST BUT NOT LEAST-I desperately want to wear some of my other clothes before winter is over!!!

So here goes nothing...

This is also my Color Brigade outfit of the week! Go here to participate.

When I want to be comfortable, I go for looks like this:

These are my 'Friday' pants

Join me tomorrow as I tell you my 'Word on the Street' and take on the '52 Books in 52 Weeks' challenge with...well there's a shit ton of people doing it so I can't really be sure of who the originator was. Even though we are already about 7 weeks into the new year, I'm still gonna do it because I've been slacking off lately and this will serve as my inspiration.  Yes, I'm a nerd...I encourage you to join me. Thanks for reading dears!

You Can't Be Scared When It Goes Down!!!

It's all about Wednesday!! One more day in the work week for me because I'm off of Friday! YESSSS!!! My plans consist of trying to get a hold of the monster that lives in my closet so that I can take him dooowwwnnn! Like seriously, I get disgusted everytime I open my closet door.  It's a shame that I have let my things pile up so much. I would take a pic to show you guys but honestly I'm embarrassed! Now that's BADD!
Anywho, the 'Word on the Street' for today is a movie that the BF and I watched called Case 39. I was a little hesitant about getting it because upon first glance I thought it would be just another cheesy thriller.  Turns out, I was actually intrigued and stayed awake throughout the whole movie.  With all of the twists and turns, it kept me engaged and I like that. This movie is centered around a social worker who fights to save a girl from her abusive parents. Being that I work directly with children (and believe me when I say that they have some horrifying issues) I thought that it would be something that I could relate to.  Let's just say that all children are NOT meant to be saved!!

My rating-8.5/10
In other news, the 30 for 30 challenge is going pretty swell but I'm already tired of looking at the same items and I want to play with some of the other things in my closet. Despite it's purpose to save me money, I haven't saved a red hot dime but I'm gonna press on anyway. Here's my fit for today:

NY & Co from head to toe

Sorry about the lighting!

Yeah so these pics kinda suck but you get where I'm going with the outfit!  My eyes are beginning to feel really heavy and I still have studying to do so until we meet again...ciao! Thanks for reading!
