Hump Day Pops of Coral...

What day is it!!??
What day is it!!??
What day is it!!??

It's HUMP DAY!!!

Woot Woot!

LOL...I'm such a dork...as I began writing this post all I could think about was this silly
Hump Day commercial that has me balled over in laughter every time I see it.

I'm so glad that we are halfway through the workweek. I've really been on it this week-catching alot of couponing deals to build my stockpile before my little man gets here. I'm happy I don't have much planned for the weekend other than getting my Peanut registered at store #2. That means I can focus my energy on reorganizing my home and getting things prepared for our first annual
Mother-Daughter Red Tag Boutique sale that my mom and I will be holding at the end of October.

Yesterday on the blog I discussed how to wear the whole "coral trend" and though it's not particularly a fall color, I plan to incorporate it into my wardrobe anyway.

I think this color works at its best when styled as an accessory hue.

For example, the necklace, purse, and bag that I added to this 'fit complimented it very well and added just a touch of edge.

It's amazing how much a pop of color can bring out an otherwise ordinary outfit.

I'm a classic type of girl so when I'm out shopping, I tend to look for neutral pieces that can be remixed and paired with several combinations for different looks.

So when I found this 99 cent striped chambray and these shorts at a $2 clearance I knew they would last a while in my wardrobe.

Both pieces are hella comfy, which makes great for my growing belly...

and I love the menswear inspired vibe that this look is giving me!!

What color do you pair with your neutrals to give them a much needed pop?

I can't wait to hear from you!

I'm Thankful...For Paneled Leather Pants and Sneaker Wedges

Happy Thanksgiving my loves!

It feels so odd saying that! Is it just me or does it seem like Thanksgiving came way early this year.

Is everyone ready to dig into the stuffing and mac 'n' cheese, the turkey and the ham?

I know I sure am!

I'm expecting to put on at least 10 pounds through the weekend so that's why I decided to wear these faux leather paneled leggings-equipped with an elastic waistband!

Leather Paneled Pants-Target
I'm so thankful for them!

I'm also thankful for sneaker wedges-even though I wish I had a better close up picture of them!

Sneaker Wedges-EBay
I'm thankful for tripods and a great honey-one who knew my camera was crappy so he went out and brought a fancy, new camera and told me that we could share it. I'm relentlessly trying to get him to just let me have it already because he clearly has NO need for it!

Chambray-NY & Co | Sweater-Target
I'm thankful for Target clearance, from where I picked up this colorblocked sweater, and chambray.

Thankful for rebels like me who don't care about breaking the rules. The playground is supposed to be closed from dusk til dawn but I couldn't wait any longer to try out the new camera.

Jacket/Purse-NY & Co
Thankful for the color red as it takes up a majority of my closet space.

Thankful for blonde hair. It should have been natural because I promise I live up to every ounce of the blonde stereotype! And yes, blondes really do have more fun!

Among all of these things though, I am most thankful for life and love in abundance. For a great family who supports my dreams and aspirations. For an awesome companion who loves me with his whole heart. For lifelong friends who accept me as I am-flaws and all. For my talents AND my flaws. For my new found family, the BLM girls-an awesome group of bloggers who continue to inspire and motivate me to keep moving forward. And for the ability to share this moment with you, my virtual friends.

I'm THANKFUL!!!

What are you most thankful for?

Trendy Tuesday: 5 Summer Wardrobe Essentials

Happy Tuesday lovelies.

I hope every one's day has gotten off to a fabulous start!!

It's my favorite day of the 'blog week'-Trendy Tuesday. This week I wanted to do something a little different so I composed a list of my favorite trends and put them all in one set.

Often when getting dressed, I tend to only capitalize on wearing one trend that will essentially speak for the whole outfit. But then I thought, what would happen-or rather, what would it look like if I put all of my favorite trends together in one outfit?

Something like this I suppose...
5 Summer Wardrobe Essentials...

Take the statement necklace-that piece speaks for itself and is usually the centerpiece of any outfit but how about pairing it with a solid color peplum top and minty pants. Put some wedges on your feet and carry along a chambray top; that could double as a cardigan for those cold restaurant or movie dates. The chambray has to be my absolute favorite just because it's so interchangeable. Take away the peplum, add the chambray, and you have created a totally different and subtle look that incorporates all (well most) of this seasons' hottest trends.

If you were planning a fashion event and you could only choose 5 of your favorite trends, which ones would you pick?

How would you style them?

I can't wait to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for reading...
XOXOXOXOXO

It's Been A While...

Hello and Happy Monday my loves!!!

I know it's been a while.

I've totally missed visiting and interacting with each and every one of you but sometimes a break is very much needed. I do appreciate the fact that you all have continued to visit and comment though.

It means everything and more to me.

Now...on to what you came here for...

This fit...

Well this skirt, in particular, is EVERYTHING to me. It's one of the few items that I actually spent more than $5 on. Haha! How cheap does that make me sound!?

Now don't get it twisted-the skirt was on sale AND I had a coupon for it so I kinda had no choice.

I even got a size too big because it was the last one left and I was that much in love with it.

Skirt-Target
I had no earthly idea what to pair it with so I reached for my old faithful chambray and from there I went. Because the skirt has elastic in the waist I paired the 'fit with a printed belt to sorta cover up the waistband. Please excuse my facial expression though, I think I was in the middle of yelling some sort of expletive to my camera because it was hot and as you can see the shots were coming out a bit blurry.

I desperately need a new camera. I'm patiently awaiting Black Friday so that I can stand in the lines to get one. Then I won't have to worry about my pics coming out like this anymore...

I was almost ready to end this post by saying that I didn't have on anything thrifted but then I remembered this vintage Dooney & Bourke purse. It has become my all time fave because it's so versatile and can literally be worn with anything. What a great $4.98 investment!

Purse-Thrifted (Dooney & Bourke)/Chambray+Belt-NY&Co.
Oh yeah, I can't forget about these wedges. They were Buy 1, get 1 for a penny at Wet Seal so I purchased these and a cognac colored pair for $15 last summer. I loves a great deal.

Now tell me...are any of you guilty of purchasing something that's not your size only because it's the last one left?

Be honest-I can't be the only one who does that!!!

LOL

Thanks for reading!

3 Ways to Rock Chambray...

Let's face it...I LOVE CHAMBRAY! I would wear it every, single day of my life if I knew that people wouldn't look at me funny. Then again, who cares!

Upon noticing that I wear it so often, I decided to do something different, something I haven't done in a while...compose a list!

Here are 3 of my favorite ways to rock my chambray.

1. Monochromatic Casual

I've always been afraid of denim on denim-well in this case, denim on chambray, but I went out on a limb and tried it. There's nothing too spectacular about this outfit-it's actually kinda plain and boring if you ask me. To keep the 'fit from being totally monotonous, I added my trusted grey cardi and a pop of red. The red heels are actually as plain as can be, however, to jazz them up, I added clip-on bows that I found on clearance for $1.48 at Target.

2. Eclectic Funk

This 'fit feels more like me. It's bold, it's daring, and kinda makes you wanna stop and ask 'what the hell' I have on. Yeah, those are the looks that I like to go for. Despite the pictures, I had thee most trouble getting this 'fit to cooperate with me. The shirt kept coming untucked and it really just got on my nerve. Needless to say, I won't be combining these pieces again, though the green and chambray do work well together.

3. Sporty Edge

This had to be the most comfortable 'fit out of the 3. I would definitely wear this again-it's versatile and I thought it was pretty sexy in an 'around the way girl' type of way. Great for showcasing your style without having to get all glammed up. Also great for walking the crazy streets of DC or any other city for that matter.

Which look is your favorite?
AND.....
How do you rock your chambray?

XOXOXO

WOTS: No Other Way I Can Describe It...Insanely Beautiful

I want this...
Chambray and Orange
There's something mystical about Chambray that makes me want to wear it every single day!!! I love the versatility of it. How it's so universal (and unisex) and can be paired with literally ANYTHING and still manage to look like a million (and one) bucks!

I also consider the aspect family and friendship to be mystical. It's essence is insanely beautiful-there's no other way I can describe it. If you've been following you know that over the last week I've been dealing with the tragic and untimely death of a friend of mine. His homegoing was amazing and was celebrated on Memorial Day (so fitting for such a respectable man).

If this tragedy hasn't taught me anything else-I've learned to value family, friends, and life in general. You never know when you're going to take your last breath, say your last goodbye, or give your last hug. You never know just how much a simple phone call or a small word of wisdom can brighten someone else's day. Don't take life for granted. Live each day as if it were your last. And most importantly, make certain that those whom hold a special position in your life know exactly how much they mean to you-each and everyday!

How do you show love to friends and family? Please share..

I leave you with this:

Cardi...Kittens-Thrifted/Chambray...Slacks-NY & Co.

Love the patterned flower pin!!

How do you rock your chambray?

In other 'Word on the Street' news, I finally got the chance to see For Colored Girls.  I know I'm late but better late than never, right?  It was more than amazing and it can go without explanation or description. I would've never made it in the movie theater. I cried practically the whole entire movie-it was sooo touching and most of all it was relatable. Even if you aren't a colored girl, I encourage you to rent this expeditiously!!!

MY RATING-10/10
(I've never given a perfect score so that should tell you something)

What's your 'Word on the Street'?
Any great ideas, movies, new trends, or events that you would like to share?

You Must Not Know 'Bout Me!!!

AWKWARD

-I was about to give up on couponing this week.  All because of a rude a$$ sales associate at Walgreens. Excuse my language, but this heifer had the nerve to rudely tell me that she wouldn't accept my coupons because they weren't printed in color.  What the fudge! Since when did it become a requirement that people use color ink? I don't even think about purchasing color ink. She then very slickly tried to accuse me of making copies of the coupons. So I very gracefully told her that I wouldn't be making a purchase and I left the cart full of goodies sitting right there at the register. She's lucky that I didn't have my coupon policy on hand. But best believe that Walgreens got a nasty gram from me the next day. Then the sales manager had a nerve to call my phone. At that point I was over it and didn't feel like discussing it any further because I clearly expressed all that I had to say about the situation within the email. Therefore, his phone call was irrelevant.
Have you ever had any encounters with rude sales associates?
If so, please share!

-Okay so my officemate and I like to lock the door to our office during business hours to ward off unwanted guests from barging in...and each time someone knocks on the door she yells 'come in' as if she's unaware that the door is locked. And then she has the nerve to 'tsssk' and suck her teeth when they yell that they can't get in because....the door is locked. Some people are sooooo simple. I declare!!!

AWESOME

-My BFF. We've been friends for about 21 years now (OMG-I'm telling my age). We met in the neighborhood that we grew up in. From the very first day we met it was just us against the world. We roller skated our way to a lifelong friendship and even though she's a zillion miles away from me, I couldn't ask for a better bestie.  I just love her. Her name is Vernae and she's one of the reasons I started this blog. She was super frugal and thrifty before I even knew what the words meant. Now she can keep up with me and what goes on in my life;  it also  makes for great conversation topics when we do get a chance to talk.

-I went to my girlfriend's 'fun' party this past weekend. Nothing like a night with the ladies-drinking good wine and conversating about sex toys! And yes, I did purchase some things!!!

-My super frugalicious OOTD (outfit of the day). I mentioned yesterday that I'm participating in the
Color Rotation hosted by Colleen at ScrapandRun

Color Rotation

soooooo.....

this is the second color in my first installment-RED. It's my absolute favorite color so putting this fit together was a cinch! Read below about how much I spent on it!

Vest..Cords..Shoes-Thrifted/Chambray-NY & Co
-Gotta love a thrifty find. 80% of my outfit was found during my 'thrifty escapades'. The
kitten heeled flats are Mossimo (Target) brand but were thrifted for $4.98. The cords were a $2.99 find from CHKD (btw what's your take on wearing cords in warm weather?). The chambray was found on a $9.99 NY & Co clearance rack and the Sag Harbor vest was 99 cents at my local thrift store. Might I add that I love the chambray shirt and would gladly wear it everyday if I could. In fact I love it so much that I have at least 4 of them in varying shades!

For the love of Chambray!

How do you rock your red?
