Savin' Maven Monday: Double the Pleasure

Happy Monday lovelies!!!

How was your weekend?

I can't lie, mine was highly unproductive. With the exception of visiting some of my favorite blogs, I got absolutely nothing done. I still have a living room full of incomplete DIY projects and my house has suffered yet another week of being neglected.

However, I do have some fun stuff to share with you for this week's edition of Savin' Maven Monday.  I usually highlight clothing purchases that I made over the week but this week I'm taking it back. The goal with my blog is to highlight how I live frugally in all aspects of my life, so I guess I would be shortchanging you guys in a sense if I only discussed frugal fashion.

Last Wednesday, I purchased all of this goodness at Farm Fresh.

Savin' Maven Monday (Farm Fresh)

Can you guess how much I spent?

Approximately?

Oh, come on you guys...guess!

I spent $21.26...
(I even scored a container of chicken which isn't pictured because I started digging in it)

Now before I begin to give you details on this purchase, I want to let you all know that Farm Fresh is not a place that I frequent because well, their prices are kinda ridiculous. But since I'm a big couponer and they just so happen to double coupons up to $1.00 on Wednesday's that's when I shop.

Now...on to the purchase.

I had a coupon for all of the items except the Velveeta cheese (on clearance for $1.00) and the green pepper ($.79). Most of the coupons had an original face value of $1.00 off which doubled to $2.00 off. My greatest steal was for the Yakisoba noodles; I got both of them for $.19 after my coupons. I know that most of these items aren't food items but hell why not save money on the snacks and condiments-that frees up more money for meats and other main dishes.

Anyhow, my total was $48.87
My total out of pocket was $21.26
For a total savings of $27.58 (56% savings)

What do you think?
Did you find any great deals this past week?
PS: I want to feature some of your super savings. If you found any awesome deals over the weekend or saved an abundant amount of money in any other area of your life, please email your story to (thriftyandshameless@gmail.com)  and I will feature it right here for Savin' Maven Monday.
Thanks so much for reading, following, and commenting regularly.
You guys are amaze-balls!!
XOXOXO

Friday Favorites...Vol #9

Hello loves...

Man, I am SOOOO GLAD that it's Friday. All week I've been daydreaming about being able to sleep in. I need to take a vacation-ASAP-because my nerves are wearing thin. Have you ever had those weeks where you just couldn't seem to catch up? Yeah, that's what kind of week I've had. And I'm sick of it already.

Nevertheless, there were some things that made me smile....

1. $10 Dinner Box from Pizza Hut-this is the absolute BEST idea they could have ever created. 2. Moscato and Kevin Hart-what can top that! 3. My thrifted wine rack-purchased it for $1.48 and I plan to paint it with... 4. Spray paint and primer- purchased from Taylor's Do It Yourself (or whatever it's called) for $1.86 (after $10 off coupon). 5. I'm a total magazine junkie-I'm gonna try and catch up on reading them this weekend. 6. Ready-made Frappacino-um YES!! 7. More pizza-I purchased 10 of these pizzas from Farm Fresh for $6.25-I received 25 Box Tops to donate to my school and all 10 of the boxes contained codes for FREE Redbox rentals-WINNING!!! 8. The green outfit that didn't make it-I actually hated it (I guess that wouldn't be considered a favorite then, huh) and I will be donating this Ellen Tracy cardigan to a good home sooner than later.

What were some of your favorite things this week?

Do share...

Savin' Maven Monday: My Goodies

Good Monday friends! I hope everyone has had a great weekend. Mine was a little trying but I will save that for another day, another post.

I did some minor shopping this past week so I won't waste any time sharing my goods. My first stop was at Farm Fresh. FF has now become my weekly couponing store because they double coupons up to $1.00 each Wednesday. A couple of weeks ago, they were doubling all $2 coupons but I missed out on that deal. I didn't need to stock up on much in the way of food, so I just purchased some inexpensive items using coupons that were soon to expire.  Here's my haul:

Savin' Maven (Farm Fresh)

I spent $6.24 here. After using coupons, the Carefree liners were FREE as well as the Mueller's pasta.  The Edward's single serve pies were $.50 each (they are de-lish), Tyson Anytizers were $.99, Texas Pete was $.70, Oral B Wisps were $.50 each, LA Looks Hair Gel was $.99, and the M&Ms were $.30 (prices after using coupons)-no tax added.

My next stop was Walgreens. If you've been following for a while then you are well aware of my continuous disgust with them.  They never have any of their advertised items in stock by the time I visit on Wednesday's so then I end up having to get rainchecks, which most times are forgotten about by the time I leave out of the store. Since I'm hosting a DIY Manicure party this Friday for FBFF (initiated by ModlyChic), I decided to scope out their cosmetics section. Lo and behold they were running a great special on Revlon polishes.  These polishes are regularly priced at about $6.49 a pop, but select colors were marked down to $3.99.  The store was advertisitng a B1G1 50% off (Revlon Cosmetics) special and to top it off, I had store coupons for $2 off Revlon cosmetics.  I believe they ended up being about $1 a piece.  The lipliner pencils pictured were on clearance for $.25 so I got 2 of each color. I also purchased some mailing envelopes (not pictured) for $1.99. I spent $8.84 here.

Savin' Maven (Walgreens)
Ladies, when shopping, make sure to pay close attention to your totals both while items are being scanned and while coupons are being taken off. Sometimes the register will ring items up for different amounts and/or fail to take coupons off (some coupons have to be taken off manually). This has happened to me on more than one instance and I have to end up going back into the store to get a price adjustment.  That is soooo annoying!

Anyhow, my total this week was $60.24
My total out of pocket was $15.08
For a total savings of $45.16 (75% savings)

What do you think?
Did you find any great deals this past week?

****Don't forget to get your pretty manicures ready! I'm hosting a DIY Manicure Party on August 12 for FBFF. I would love to see you link up!****

Savin' Maven Monday: It's Been Awhile Since I First Saw You...

Wow you guys. I feel like I haven't done a Savin' Maven post in a month of Mondays. Honestly that's because I haven't really been doing lots of shopping. The sales haven't been great and the coupons have been lackluster to say the least.

I did however venture into Farm Fresh this past week Wednesday. Farm Fresh Wednesday's are my favorite because they double coupons up to $1.00 so there are some really great deals to be taken advantage of.
Here's what I got:

Savin' Maven (Farm Fresh)

Savin' Maven (Farm Fresh)
I spent a total of $21.60 on the above pictured items. The cereals were 4 for $10. They came up to $6 after my coupons and with the purchase of the cereals I received a FREE gallon of milk and a $2 coupon to use on my next purchase. The remainder of the items (with the exception of the toothpaste, pie, and Turkey Hill juices) were on a 'buy 10 get $5 off special'. For some reason I just can't help myself when it comes to toothpaste. Do you all know that this stuff is literally free most times. I promise. It's always on special at Farm Fresh and there are always coupons for it in the Sunday paper-usually for $1.00 off. So if you shop Farm Fresh on Wednesdays that $1.00 off will double to $2.00 off making the toothpaste next to nothing. I swear, I have at least 20 tubes already. I plan to donate most of them though because there's no way in hell I can use all that paste in a timely manner.  Speaking of which, does toothpaste expire

Next stop-Target. This is my go to store when I'm not thrifting. I spent $1.85 there. What a helluva total for all this:

Savin' Maven (Target)
The Gillette gels were on clearance and I had a B1G1 FREE coupon. Same goes for the Old Spice. I'm definitely not gonna use this stuff but it will make for some good impromptu gifts for my babe. Also, I had a $10 off Target coupon for the towel rack. One more thing I forgot to add...I did purchase 20 4x6 pictures (which I plan to use on a future DIY project) that are not shown but the total is still the same because they were FREE after I used my ($2 off of 20 prints) coupon.

Pretty good week I thought.

All in all my total for these purchases was  $77.44
My total out of pocket was $23.47
For a total savings of $53.97 (70% savings)

Did you find good deals on anything this past week? Please share.

I think my tips would be more useful if they were specifically tailored to your questions so feel free to ask me any coupon or shopping related questions and I will post the answer(s) the following week. Keep in mind that I'm no expert but I'm willing to share what I know. You may email you questions to thriftyandshameless@gmail.com.

Savin' Maven Monday: Magic's in the Makeup!

Good Murnin'!

Hope everyone had fantastical weekend.

Mine was GREAT. I found lots of great deals. To top it off I spent Sunday night with the beau and his family watching the FINALS all while scarfing down some of THEE best grilled food I think I've ever had in all of my days. Pops can THROW DOWN on the grill-I wish I had some pics to share. But since I don't just know that it was soooo good that I have enough leftovers to last me the rest of the week!!!

Did anyone else watch the FINALS? How was your experience? What team were you going for? (I was rooting for Miami just because everyone else wanted Dallas to win and I must say that LeBron really disappointed me-he may as well not have shown up for the 4th quarter because he didn't do JACK!)

Before I go on I would like to wish MY BESTEST FRIEND in the world a very Happy Birthday. If you're reading this, I love and miss you dearly sugah!

Now, here's what I got in my mailbox last week (and maybe even 2 weeks ago-I'm losing track)-FREE MAGS:

Mailbox Monday
Being that I there haven't been any really great coupons in the papers for the past couple weeks, I didn't do much shopping.

I went to CVS just to use some of my ECB's before they expired and found that they had marked alot of their cosmetics down to 50 and 75% off. I also scanned my card at the in-store coupon kiosk and received a $3 off $10 cosmetic purchase-->stoked!! Ohhhh, they had the crackle polish that I've been wanting since I mentioned it here, on sale for $4.99. Overall, I spent $3.62 on this purchase.

Savin' Maven (CVS)
I also did Farm Fresh for the first time in a number of weeks. I figured that I would finally take advantage of their 'double dollar' Wednesday. (This is when they double all coupons up to $1-not sure that there is a limit to the number of coupons you may use either) They had some really great deals. I happened to get lucky and find a printable $5 off $25 coupon from the 'net so that came in handy as well.

Savin' Maven (Farm Fresh)
The deal with the all the Oscar Meyer products was that if you purchased 5 of the selected items you would automatically get $5 off. The Colgate was 3 for $5 and when my 3 ($1 off 1) coupons were doubled they all ended up being FREE. All of the cosmetics and deodorant were FREE as well after my coupons. This pic doesn't include the 2 large containers of Extra laundry detergent that I got for $1 each after coupons. In totality, I spent $11.23 here. Wowzah!

My total  this week was $64.03.
My out of pocket total was $14.85.
For a total savings of $49.18 (77% savings).

Did you find any good deals this week?

-SIDENOTE-Bath and Body works started their semi annual sale on Friday. For all of you who like to stock up on smell goods, you need to hurry in...

Before you go:

Couponing Tip #3

Begin collecting coupons.

You may subscribe to the Sunday paper or even ask a friend or family member to save their inserts for you. My mom has gotten hip and automatically takes the coupons out and sets them to the side for me now. LOVES HER! Also you may print them in the comfort of your own home by visiting Coupons, RedPlum, and Smart Source. Various stores such as Target have their own store coupons which can be used and combined with manufacturers coupons. Many of the blogs that are listed on my 'Thrifty Divas' list also post about various coupons that may be printed from home. Some of my faves are InspiringYou2Save and Hip2Save. Make sure to come back next week as I review CouponChief, another of my favorite sites for printable coupons.
